^ Oh, now I really have to get the Chain Letter book! ;D I think Margo is often really funny. This book was one of the ones that made me like her so well even though I'm not sure why since she's not in it that much (if I remember correctly)

^ My favorite Toby moment was in the postcard Margo sent Stacey in "Chain Letter" saying she saw him on the beach with an ugly girl. I never noticed that before, but I thought it was funny. That's not a nice thing to say about her sister...

^ Was she talking about Mal? If so, that is kind of mean? As for this book, I always enjoy the description of the breakfast the Pikes have their first morning and the descriptions of the house. It sounds so cozy - especially Mal's room in the top where she sits to look out at the ocean. I've always wanted a house with a tower (so does my dad - he thinks a tower is a perfect place for a library and I couldn't agree more ;D)

^I've always wanted a house with a tower, too! Well, not always, but for quite a long time -- I read the Anastasia Krupnik books when I was little, and her bedroom was in a tower, which sounded so cool to me.

^What I always wondered is that if there are enough rooms in the house that Mary Anne and Stacey could have chosen a different one than they were given, why were the kids still crammed into the same bedroom arrangements as at home? If I were Mallory especially, I'd claim the tower room for myself and have my own room for two weeks. Does anyone remember how one of the kids in "Eleven Kids, One Summer" actually did that? I was so happy.

Maybe the Pike kids liked sharing rooms or felt comfortable with it??? Seemed to remember a book (All New Mallory maybe) where one of them starts rooming alone and gets lonely. I know some boys I was friends with as a kid had always shared a room and when one of them went to the hospital (they thought he had a broken leg but he ended up being fine his brother (who was 8 at the time) started crying and said "I won't be able to sleep without him in the bunk above me." I thought this was so cute and remind the "big tough cop" of it now Maybe that is how the Pikes felt too. I remember 11 Kids but haven't read it for a really long time. I liked it though and will have to reread.

Still, like 9 bedrooms and they only used 5 of them? And even less before the younger ones were born. Maybe the Pikes wouldn't have had to scrape by the rest of the year if they didn't spend big bucks on huge oceanfront property every summer.

haha, good point ktag, and I agree with you. Even if the kids like sharing rooms for the most part, you'd think that it would be fun to have your own room for at least a couple of weeks during the summer. I shared with my twin sister when we were kids, until we were about 9 I think, but when another room became available, I immediately moved into it!

^ I did't remember there being 9 rooms - that is a lot. I wouldn't know about sharing a room since I've been lucky to never have to share one (am an only child). How many floors does a house with nine rooms have?

^ At least 2,maybe 3, although I don't see how the Pikes could afford a 3-story house.

It was three stories. It was mentioned in a book that there were several rooms on the third floor that no one wanted. Such a waste. Well, I guess that's why they invited the whole club in SS10.

Ah, I loved this book one of the all time greatest. Scott does strike me as a creep, although as we find out, Toby isn't much better! I felt bad for both MA and Stacey, and thought Stace was totally acting her age in this.

Just reread and also loved it. Scott never fails to make me mad. I always liked Toby until I read MA and Too Many Boys. Now I think he's a jerk every time I read this one, too. I wonder why they changed him and made him into a jerk (or just revealed it, I guess)
