Problem now is, try finding those full-sized station wagons that the Pikes had!

Just wanted to add that up until 3 months ago, I had a purple car. So dibble.

I don't know, maybe it's just hard for me to picture a man with a purple car. ;D I actually saw one the other day and it was a very nice shade a purple, not what I had pictured in my mind I suppose.

^ ;D Wonder if Watson ever drove the Pink Clinker. That's a funny mental picture ;D As for finding a full size station wagon, agree but it wouldn't have been hard at the time when the books (especially that one) were published. We had one and so did several other families I knew.

^Imagine Elizabeth's reaction to seeing her husband driving the Pink Clinker. ;D She seemed mortified when Nannie first painted it.

^ Does it mention what book Nannie painted it in? I don't remember it but would like to read it. ;D

I think it was in Kristy's Big Day when it was first mentioned. I remember Kristy was saying that Elizabeth's reaction was something like "For heaven's sake why pink?!" and Nannie had said "Why not?" ;D

I love Nannie, as she was at the beginning of the series. I don't think she changed as much as some characters, but it happened.

^ I don't care for Nannie but I think that's because I subconsciously compare her to my own grandma (probably because of the way she acted in Mr Mom reminded me of my grandma) Anyway, the statement about the car in Great Idea that karenthebrat posted made me laugh becuase it reminded me of when the funeral director was informing us of the arrangements my great aunt had made for herself - "and for her casket, she chose..... Pink?" ;D

I giggled at the pink casket. I guess we know which one Nannie would have wanted, too I'd probably have chosen that one too, actually. If it comes in a cool color, I'd rather have it over something plain!

^ ;D It actually turned out being a kind of pretty mauve. Anway.... ;D the Pike "car wars" with the signs were more annoying in this one, I thought, than in the other Sea City books. A lot of the parts about the car trip were pretty funny, though. I just didn't like the whole Nicky vs the triplets thing but usually don't.

I don't care for Nannie at all, really. Maybe it's because they try SO HARD to make her seem sooo cool and young and ungrandmalike. It's annoying. We get it, Nannie is zany and silly and drives a pink car and *gasp* wears pants.
