^ I agree. It's in Karen's Two Families. She doesn't really say it is to make her feel better about the divorce but that is why Karen is feeling bad (not sure if Lisa even catches on to this or not, though) and Lisa is like "maybe we should get a puppy from the Kilbornes. Would that make you feel better?" Andrew is actually the one who wanted it or asked to begin with, though.

No because Karen doesn't want it (and I don't think Lisa really wanted to get it for her and it might have already been sold). Andrew got Bob the Hermit Crab instead ;D

I was surprised that Karen said it wouldn't work - at that age I totally would've said it would just so I could have a puppy. But that was a really stupid thing to do, trying to buy her off with something.
I'm only in favor of dog breeding for the betterment of the breed. The majority of breeders, however, seem to be people who have a "nice," "smart" or "pretty" pet and just want to make a quick buck.

I totally agree with you mckay.
Also agree with what you guys have said about Lisa offering up a puppy to help Karen feel better! Wow! It really bothers me when people do things like that. I'm glad they didn't end up getting it.

Speaking of the puppies, for some reason it always bugged me that DM named theirs "Shannon". I guess it was cute and it's probably something I would have done at that age but it bothers me for some reason that the dog and person share the same name, maybe especially after Shannon was a snob at first in this book.

it was really nice of shannon to give dm the puppy--her family could have received hundreds of dollars from the puppy. not that the kilbournes were hurting for cash, but still.

^ No, I definitely agree it was very nice. Still didn't like Shannon in that book ;D

I love the part where David Michael says "You asked a dog to join your club?" ;D

^ I had forgotten about that one - it is a great line ;D I think the name just bothers me so much because I never like people naming their horses after themselves (attaching their name on the front or back of what would be a perfectly good registered name ;D) so compare naming the dog Shannon to that. Also, the confusion it causes - kind of like the egg named Bobby in MA and 2 Many Babies ;D

This book was soo sad, I felt so bad for DM and Louie just before he died and was limping pathetically around the house, so sad . The LS book where Karen's goldfish Crystal Light dies is also sad, just as sad as this one.

I'm glad they didn't end up getting it. That doesn't worry me so much because I'm sure Karen's family (what was Seth's last name again?!) would've been responsible owners and not just dumped the dog as soon as the novelty wore off. Like mckay, I'm also surprised that Karen said it wouldn't work. But then, doesn't everyone in BSC-land have maturity beyond their years?

^ I like Karen and Andrew's relationship though. She really looked after her little brother.

^ Totally agree. In a lot of the LS books, especially, (Tattletale coming right to mind....) I think Andrew is quite a whiner and almost favored over Karen. But I like Karen so that's probably influencing my perception.
