The Delaney quote made me wonder about Shannon sitting for them. I know this book made a big deal about how they were usually her clients but did she ever sit for them much in the other books? What about the Papadakises? For making such a big deal out of losing business, she didn't care much later it seems since she was too busy. Didn't she do all the activities during this book too? Then again, Tiffany supposedly was a sitter too in this one and then later became a sitee ;D

^^ Yeah, I guess just another inconsistency. Isn't Tiffany eleven? Why would she need a sitter, esp. if Mallory and Jessi are the same age? ^ What book was that from? I don't remember her saying that, but it's hilarious!!! Same book. Off the top of my head, it's the part where Kristy has a pizza delivered to Shannon's house, and Shannon goes to the Delaneys with the pizza and demands that Kristy pays for it. Kristy says no, so Shannon takes a slice out of the box and threatens to throw it at Kristy, who in turn threatens to throw it back at Astrid, turning her into a Pepperoni Mountain Dog, making Amanda say the thing about the carpet.

^ Don't remember the specifics but it was the one with the Pizza. Now I'll have to reread for the Pepperoni Dog quote. That sounds funny ;D

in this book it says
thirteen is pretty old for a dog, especially one of a larger size. i remember reading that louie latched onto dm because he understood that dm didn't have a father or something along those lines.

^ Thanks for posting this quote! I had gotten confused thinking that DM got Louie after he was born but I had always thought Louie was about 12 or 13. Now this makes sense. I should have gone with my original thoughts - I knew I had gotten them from somewhere. ;D

I really like this book. Louie dying.... ugh, so sad! The funeral had me crying, and when they described Louie as panicking when he lost the use of his back legs. So horrible. I liked Kristy's thoughts in the vet's office when they went to put him down. She first thought "How can we do this, we are killing him" but then realized it was the most humane thing to do. DM was so sweet and sad at the funeral. "He was my best friend." As for the rest of the book.. Kristy and Shannon's rivalry started out of NOTHING! I mean, Kristy is waiting for the bus one day and suddenly they are yelling "Snob!" and "Jerk-face!" to each other? (And seriously Shannon, "jerk-face"? lol) I love how the rest of the BSC had never even met Shannon and only heard bad things about her, but as soon as she and Kristy became friends they are like, "oh Kristy, maybe you should ask her to join the club!" and she becomes an associate member just like that. But in just a few books they practically haze Jessi and Mallory before they'll let them join. Oh and this has been bugging me all day... Why did the Kilbournes have purebred puppies to sell? Are they breeders? If not, where did the puppies come from? (I can't imagine they let an unspayed dog go outside and then she just happened to mate with another purebred..) This is something I never would have noticed before I had pets (cats) of my own, but as soon as I re-read it the questions started forming.

^ We have never had dogs but have had horses who had babies and paid to breed them to other people's stallions. We would "shop around" for the best possible stallion with the traits, etc we wanted to match with the mare. A lot of our friends have done this with their dogs, too. I think there can be pretty good money in having purebred puppies, even with the breeding fee. Now our barn cats are another story.... they just take care of themselves and their own breeding ;D Agree about Kristy and Shannon's rivalry coming out of nowhere. That was one of the things that bugged me about this book. Then the conflict resolved almost out of nowhere in the same abrupt way.

Astrid had another litter in one of the LS books. (Lisa and Seth wanted to buy one for Karen to "make her happy" because she seemed sad lately. But I suppose that's one for the crappy parenting thread.) So yes, they definitely seem to be breeding her with intent.

^ I just read that one - Karen's Two Families - and she mentions how much the puppies sell for so that is probably the motivator ;D

How much do they sell for, aln? I disagree with dog & cat breeders so BOOO on the Kilbournes for that!

^ Karen never said a price but was shocked. Still, Lisa does end up suggesting they get a puppy (to make "Karen feel better" though Karen does not think that will work) so they couldn't be terribly much. I would guess a few hundred dollars but really don't know anything about dogs and prices.

^ Wow! I know about horses but not dogs. Guess they do go for a lot ;D Though I can't see Lisa being able (or willing maybe) to spend that much but maybe she expected Watson to spring for some of it since it was a "feel better about the divorce" present.

She wants to buy Karen a pet so she'll feel better about the divorce?! Whaaat?! That is really disturbing.
