Someone on the BSC LJ theorized that Robert was gay and using Andi as a cover up for his real cheating, or something, and that Stacey would rather have believed he was cheating on her with Andi than that he was gay, so that was why she just let it go. Not sure I buy it, but whatever.

Maybe Stacey should have never made him quit basketball and sever his ties with his friends from his old life.

I thought that was pretty over the top. He has to give up his friends because Stacey doesn't really like them?

She never said "Don't hang out with your friends because they sux0rz", though. At the end of Stacey and the Bad Girls, when she realises how horrible those girls were, Robert is completely supportive of her. She says that she doesn't know what will happen if they're on a date and then see The Group, since she can't force him to stop hanging out with his mates. And then I don't think it was really mentioned again.

I thought Robert was pretty decent in Stacey and the Bad Girls. His loyalty was unquestionable.

Did anyone else feel really bad that it was Andi that Robert cheated on her with? 'Cause Andi was the only one of the "bad girls" that Stacey was still friendly with, and I thought it was cool that Stacey had a pal outside the BSC, and also that she was friendly with someone who wasn't as goody-goody as the BSC girls were yet still not a shoplifting jerk like the other "bad girls." But then this severs ties with Andi and she also doesn't really talk much to Robert for sometime -- it's back to the clique for you, Stacey! You must not have friends outside of the BSC. Only the BSC are worthy. Besides snarking about that, I also feel bad for Stacey. Andi was her only friend left out of the "bad girls," and then Andi betrays her. It's more poignant that way, but it's a tough break for Stacey. She can't write it off as "Andi's-always-been-a-jerk-I-should-have-expected-this." If Robert had cheated on her with another one of the "bad girls," she probably would have wanted him out of her life forever, but she doesn't think either Andi or Robert are bad people, so she tries to be understanding, and being Robert's friend later on is pretty complicated. It might be complicated even without his depression.

For some reason, I want to say the Walkers live by the Museum of Natural History, which is around Central Park West and 81st Street. Stacey says her dad's building is at 65th Street, and I remember him trying to get her to live with him when the McGills divorced by saying it was right by Bloomingdale's, which would put it by Lexington Avenue. So to get from point A to point B, Stacey could walk along 65th and through the park (just under a mile), and then about three-quarters of a mile uptown to 81st. THIS ISN'T FAR AT ALL. AND SHE TAKES A F*CKING CAB! I felt my empty college student wallet cry out in anguish when I read that part. If Stacey is really too fragile for all that walking, she could walk two blocks downtown to catch the F, take it downtown to Rockefeller Center, and transfer to the B, which would deposit her right outside the very museum that I am assuming the Walkers live by. Admittedly, taking the subway would probably save, like, under a dollar, but I think any form of transportation besides walking is unnecessary if the route is what I think it is, especially during the summer. And who takes a cab to work everyday? Even the mayor takes the subway. I'm sorry, I really had to get that out

I was like "oh great" when it was revealed that it was Andi who he cheated with. She did seem like a cool, normal girl that Stacey could have had a nice friendship with. It made sense that Robert would choose Andi, since she seemed smart, fun, pretty, etc., like another version of Stacey. He hates Jacqui always chasing him, and tells Stacey that he knows Sheila lies to her boyfriend a lot. (Well, they have that conversation before HE lies to Stacey...)

I just read this for the first time. I really liked it, poor Stacey. Felt really bad for her. She has a lot more self-control than I do, I would've been calling Robert every single night to figure out wtf was going on. What a freaking jerk. She was too understanding imo, but I guess that's because she knew she had Ethan to fall back on.
The Mexican Festival subplot was torturous. I couldn't read about all the mayhem. Abby totally sucked, I was glad to see Kristy proven right cause honestly I think Kristy's leadership style is endearing. I love how she voted "no" on whether or not Abby could take over while she was gone. heh. Abby spent SO MUCH of their money!! I would've refused to reimburse her. I mean everytime they met up, Abby prattled on about how she'd spent $50 on supplies!

^Yeah, I wouldn't have paid up, either! Abby should have stuck to whatever limit they agreed on. It's not THAT hard to be creative on a budget.

I just read and liked it okay - really glad to see the Walkers again I was actually glad that Robert cheated on Stacey because I can't stand him and this proved he was a jerk (and got rid of him for a while). I thought it was bad for Stacey how he didn't even admit the truth. Something that I found funny was when she said her only choice was to "spy" - after how she went on about Dawn's spying in Stacey vs the BSC. True, Stacey and Claudia weren't hiding behind a jukebox but spying is spying (and totally something I would do As for the subplot, I agree with the statements from a few days ago about Abby. She doesn't have the leadership ability that Kristy has. I would have killed her - I have a lot of "Kristy" in me and was extremely tight with the money when I was 4h club treasurer. Question about Abby being president - since Stacey was gone too, wouldn't it have made sense for Abby to take over as Treasurer and Claud - the VP - to become President? Imagine what a mess Claudia could make of things I did find it funny, though, when Abby gave Jessi the "look" because Kristy does go overboard sometimes.

This one was definitely one of the more enjoyable later books. Stacey was pretty mature about everything. When I got dumped, I was completely hysterical (I guess Stacey's just so much more sophisticated than me!). I never really liked Robert, so I'm glad he was more or less out of the series after this. Oh, and wanderingfrog, ITA that it sucked that he cheated on her with Andi. She seemed pretty cool until this book.
The Mexican festival bit was kind of boring. The beginning stuff with Kristy reluctantly letting Abby take over was funny, but it went downhill quickly after that.

^ I don't remember this one well but think I liked it - probably because it exposed Robert as a jerk and got him away from Stacey ;D I can't stand Robert! As for the festival, this is mean, but I was kind of glad that Abby wasn't successful after she seemed so cocky. I never can understand, though, why she didn't fill in for treasurer and Claud the VP for President. But imagine Claudia as President. Aaaahhhh!

I never really liked Robert that much so I admit I was glad when they broke up. I felt bad for Stacey though, I know what it feels like to be cheated on.
