Just like the Pikes' "Gingerbread People?" Actually, more annoying was in I.A, when Haley gloated about being correct about the doctor being a woman.

^ I always call them gingerbread people instead of gingerbread men, and I'm pretty sure I'm not a raging feminist.

We should start a new thread just for listing all the times a big deal was made out of the he/she thing. Unless we already have one buried someplace...

^ As I far as I know, we don't have that kind of thread. I'm sure we'll post a lot of those moments if such a thread is created.

So with all the discussion about how this book was originally Claudia and the Mystery of Stoneybrook and Stacey and the New Kids on the Block, I tried to read this again with a different perception in mind. Almost as if the book was narrated by Claudia. Some of the parts make sense with the flow of the book, like the scene where Claud goes to the library with the Perkins girls.
Also, I mentioned in my previous post on this thread that something is funky with the cover and I stand by that. Stacey looks almost like she was painted over. Look especially at her hair, it looks like it's trying to cover something that was behind it. Maybe it's me being paranoid.

^Not just you, I always thought there was something odd about her hair!

^ I think someone else was originally there (like Dawn or Claudia) and was painted over to be Stacey. That would explain the weird hair, the weird discoloured hands, and choice of using that dark, forest green sweater which blends into the background too much.

I just gave the cover a once over, and I don't see anything particularly weird about it....

^ Try to check out Stacey's hair, especially on the right side. You can tell there's just a big...glob of it. That's the best way I can explain it. As I said, it's almost like she was painted over something else. Check out her hands. And the quality of the artwork isn't the same as the other ones. Maybe it's just my critical eye.

Yeah, there is something about the way it hangs, and something about the color too. I can't explain it.

I'll look closer...the BSC has plenty of weird covers, though, and I guess I didn't that this was worse than some of the others.

Was anyone else expecting the BSC to put a stop to the demolition? I thought for sure that’s where the book was heading the whole time. Such a huge deal was made about Stoneybrook being built over ancient burial grounds and the haunted house being on the most sacred spot that during the demolition I was expecting someone to jump up and yell “STOP! You’re disturbing the spirits!”
This is one of the sadder BSC books too. I did not see the ending with Mr. Hennessey coming at all.
