Car phones...I remember my mom's cousin had one. It was huge! I still see freeway signs here and there that say something like "In emergency use car phone call 911." Teehee.

<Edited because somehow I put my reply for School Spirit Month in here I feel a little bit like Sharon right now> A phantom phone caller wouldnt be able to get away with ringing first these days, because of being able to trace calls. Its a shame criminals find a way around these new technilogical advances though.

If they updated the BSC like they are with SVH, they'd be in a bit of trouble, technology wise, don't you think?

^ In the early books, yes (cable boxes, tape decks, ect), but by the later books, they had email and CD's and stuff. I don't think an SVH-like update would go all that well, though, because they'd have to rewrite all the fashion stuff, too. That would just take too long.

I would never want BSC fashion to be updated. I much prefer reading about all the insane 80's and early 90's stuff they wore.
I wish I could find a pair of tights with clocks on them like Claudia had in this book. That would be so dibble!

Well, I don't think the SVH updating is going too well, either. I wonder if any actual teenagers are buying them.
candykane, you might appreciate this from the excerpt of the updated #5:

Haha! Oh, Jessica, don't you know that all of us librarians are sexy, regardless of the way we dress? Because information is SEXY! (Ya, I'm kind of in a silly mood right now.)

Yeah, my first thought was also that I'm a sexy librarian no matter what I'm wearing. As is my boyfriend.
And I'm frequently in a silly mood!

Well I'm buying them and I'm 19, which means I'm essentially an adult, but still an actual teen for one more year ;D. And I actually asked someone working at Borders when I bought 3 and 4 if these actually sold and he said that they did. Whether the buyers are teens or just fans like me I'll never know.

I'd be interesting in seeing how they're different from the updates.

^ The twins are now "perfect size 4's" instead of 6's, and I guess there's no Dairi Burger.

At the risk of sounding dumb, what is SVH? Is it Sweet Valley High?
