I think somewhere they do refer to "cartons" rather than "boxes".

I also wondered how they carried the boxes to sitting jobs if they really were that big. Also if they really were cardboard, wouldn't after awhile they fall apart/disintegrate? ITA that the shoebox size stated in the books, unless they had contained some gigantic shoes, could not have held board games. Kid Kits truly were a Great Idea though.

i never really thought they brought board games with them. i don't remember any mentions of board games, except the game MA made that was about school.

They've often said "our old toys and games" in chapter 2s

^ I'm really interested in the differences in the updated versions.
For the updated 2008 Sweet Valley High series, about 10-20% of each book was different, so it was def worth buying (I got all 6 before the series was killed).
If the updated BSC is really different like 2008SVH, then it's worth buying. But I've read sample chapters of the first three updated BSC books on Amazon, and they're word-for-word almost the same as the old books. If that's the case I think I'll put my money towards Ann's Main Street series.
Has anyone read the new books yet (not counting The Summer Before)? Are they different to the old books (like 2008SVH was)? Or are they almost the same?

I'm about halfway through comparing the versions of Kristy's Great Idea, and so far most of the changes have been fairly minor.

I wonder if Ann realized that Leslie Howard was the name of the man who played Ashley Wilkes in Gone With the Wind....

Never thought of that...it's possible.
Loved him in "The Petrified Forest."

She could have been aware or she could have just come up with a name. Who knows?

Considering it's Ann, I bet she did know. . .Gone With the Wind seems like it would be one of her "things." (And it comes up at least twice--Dawn's Big Date and Stacey and the Missing Ring.)
