I never thought of this before, but both Claudia and Alan are more alike than not, you guys are right. They are both made to feel like outcasts, but in different capacities. And they are both quirky and eccentric, but not in a mean way, and differently.

It's funny reading the parts in this book that deal with Claudia using the computer, because I get the feeling AMM (or the ghostwriter) was impressed with computers but was really not familiar with using them, because they seemed to think that Spell Check was a miracle worker. Spell Check might be helpful, but it can't read minds, and there's no way it could have correctly deciphered Claud's horrendous spelling. Claudia writes "Staduesk butey sekes cule guy for fun daytes" and her computer supposedly translates it correctly (to "Statuesque beauty seeks cool guy for fun dates"), but if I try typing the same sentence and use Auto Correct, the results give me "Statues buttery seeks clue guy for fun dates".

^ I think Claudia's spelling would make AutoCorrect blow up if she used it all the time.....

Let's invent a magic, mind-reading spell-check...

^For Claudia a device that you could speak into might work best. She could say "Ocober" (Phantom Phone Calls) and the magic computer genie should come up with "October." ITA that sometimes even her typings might cause spell check as we know it to not be very happy.

I am now picturing a female butter sculpture whirling around the ballroom with Colonel Mustard.

^ the only butter sculpture i've ever seen was a cow at the state fair, which makes that visual a lot more fun.

I still feel so badly for Pow and Buddy and Suzi. I wish there had been a better answer but was happy the Pikes got to take him. Too bad we never saw Buddy or Suzi coming over to just visit or walk Pow. One thing I realized this time around is that Claudia mentions the Sea City trip from SS#10. I stuck it back after #65 where I originally had it. I'll just pretend that Mrs. Barrett and Franklin were engaged. I still don't care for what Stacey did though she did mean it in the right spirit. I did like that Rioko and John made sure to meet all of Claudia's potential dates. I could see how that would be mortifying for Claud but nice to read about a BSC parent acting like a parent.

^ I never thought the whole Pow thing was fair. That could be due to the fact that I like dogs better than small children, though.

Marnie, if we had heard about her having difficulty even in the prior book, her extreme allergy might have been more believable. Instead, I think it was merely a plot device gone strange. I also don't quite believe that neither Suzi nor Buddy were ever upset again either in general or at Marnie for Pow's leaving them. As far as I know that was never mentioned again. For that matter, while Marnie talks more than say Skylar or Squirt, she wasn't too verbal. I would think in some way she would wonder where Pow was and somehow express it even just by saying "Dog?" Maybe that was another reason for her de-aging at times along with the other 2's not named Gabbie in the Series.

It's not fair but it's reality. Our dog became high maintenance and it turned out our neighbour/close family friend was interested in a dog, and fell in love with ours, so she took her and we visit when we can cause of being busy, but it does give me comfort she's with someone we know.
I used to cringe at the Kishi's meeting the guys, but it was smart to add that and I see it now that I'm much older. Kids coul read that and get themselves into danger if they did the same and let a stranger take advantage of them behind their parents back.

So I don't remember any of ma talking to dr Reese and the hard times she was going through. Have I had a bsc brain fart? Also, I love how Claudia is talking about the boys she had met before and her reference to maybe feeling in love was terry from ca? I would've guessed wil from camp!
