^I have a sneaking suspicion it was more about Ann and the Ghosties being lazy than anything else. If they had gone to Basher Land (lol), that would have meant more description about those kids and their school, etc. Still, after, "Kristy and the Haunted Mansion," I wished (at least those Bashers) had been developed more. Sort of like how I wished the "Castaways" from I.A. had spent time together at home.

I always figured the Krushers' away games were like Dawn changing her underwear in the Farewell, Dawn discussion -- going on in the background if not explicitly stated. If Bart had any sense at all he never would have stood for all of the games being played on the Krushers' field, and I can't imagine all of the Bashers going along with that, either, especially since it sounded like they were old enough to know about home field advantage, even if they didn't totally understand it. It's not like we got a record of the Krushers' season to know that every single Krushers game was described in a BSC book. I think it's one of the things that it's more logical to assume happens even if you don't specifically read about it rather than think that if it's not shown, it didn't happen.

Good point, Lila, though it would have been interesting to read about. As I said after Kristy and the Haunted Mansion, I would have liked at least a teeny bit of interaction between her and the stranded Bashers. I wonder if Shannon ever baby-sat for any of them?

I never thought about the Krushers playing away games. I agree with Lila; they must have had some, that we just never read about.
I wonder how many Krusher games constituted a season. And I know we've all wondered about who the Bashers played against before the Krushers existed. As far as I know, that was also never explained.

^Also, didn't it sometimes sound like the Krushers had two seasons: one in later Spring and the other in the Fall?

What a pleasant surprise to read the 1st post on this thread today, by macca, which sums up EXACTLY how I was feeling about this book. So usually I toss this book aside and have no desire to re-read, which is my error because it's pretty good! I think this is one of the more stand-out Kristy books to me because it truly encompasses many of the things that her character is: loves baseball, loves kids, loves competition.
Word on this book SHOULD have been titled Kristy and the Krushers. One thing that I always remember about this is the interesting colour of the book. It's kind of like a tanned neutral or something. I know that's random but I like it. And I wonder why they never used the colour again (or did they?)
I want to add in that I got slightly offended by something Ann put in (and I'm usually pretty easygoing). Kristy basically calls Jake a fatso. This is also interesting considering how PC the BSC usually is. Ann actually uses fatso in the book when describing him, that shocked me a bit.
Also, I like how Kristy always references Bart's hair. It reminds me of them on the cover of Kristy + Bart = ? and Bart's hair actually does look glistening on it!
Edited to add: Woah. I saw book a lot in this post.

Ann was really harpy about overweight people. Norman Hill was never mentioned without pointing out what a big fattie he was.

^ Yes! So true! I was a bigger kid growing up, up until mid high-school, and I wonder if that offended me the first time around (I can't remember)... or if I just glazed over it.

Wow, other book, I read when I was kid. I'll have reread this book someday.
Did other two years old ever tried baseball or was just Gabbie who tried out, join the game?

^ I think it was just Gabbie. Because, you know, the Perkins girls are complete Superstars who can do anything at any age.

I wanted to mention how the colour of this book always reminded me of a slightly dirty base (or baseball). Which is fitting!

I still can't figure out why kristy calls Watson jerky when he says the following; tomorrow hardly matters, I mean in the grand scheme of things. This was in response to her saying that they would see how good of a job he had done with the kids tomorrow, meaning if they won.
Why was this jerky???
