It seems like the kind of situation where the girl is flattered that her boyfriend gets super jealous whenever another guy even glances her way because she interprets that as him "caring about her" and stuff. I totally agree that Mary Anne would see Logan's actions as a sign that he was "involved" and would be a good dad.

I always find this book “egg-strodinarily” funny ( ::)I know – imagine the fun Abby could have with bad puns and jokes about this project). I love all of the jokes the Papadikis kids make and the confusion over the “Bobby egg” and Alicia’s fear of the egg Also love the Pike chapter when they all get “married” and use up all the eggs from the refrigerator nursery. Mal and Jessi are great in this one, laughing at the girls’ seriousness. This is one of my favorite “Alan and Kristy” books and I really like that they get paired off. Find it hilarious when MA says that Alan has been “Kristy’s pest” forever. Shawna was on a level beyond dumb. Wasn’t she just described as a great student, though, in Claudia and the Middle School Mystery? I guess she was kind of ditzy and maybe is just book smart and has no common sense. I did find it kind of foolish how seriously MA and Kristy took the project, but it was still really funny and in keeping with their character. I admit I’ve always thought this project was dumb and probably would have “neglected” my egg and wrote a really good report on how it was too big of a pain. But that’s just me. The book does make me kind of wonder what sort of parent Stacey would be since she seems quite bothered by the egg. She’s a great sitter, though, so I don’t know. I also thought it was kind of dumb how MA and Logan were almost surprised that they couldn’t be financially independent – with all of her baby-sitting and his big job at the Rosebud (but they were probably more able than most of the other “couples” in the class). Anyway, this is probably my favorite MA book (or one of them at least) because the whole thing keeps me laughing. It never fails to lift my mood. ;D

I thought it was funny how serious Kristy and Mary Anne took the project. I never had to do a project like that in middle school, we had to sew more than anything in my home economic class in middle school. I am sort of glad I didn't have to do a project like this because it sounds like the kind of project that I would totally BS.

I have never read this book. And I have no idea why because it sounds like a great one. Just curious though, us there a reason why it's "Mary Anne + 2 many Babies" instead of "Mary Anne AND Too Many Babies"? Every time I see it my response is "Mary Anne + 2 Many Babies= WHAT?" Where there just trying to be clever or is it more obvious if you've read the book.

^ This always bugged me too. Kind of like Kristy + Bart = ? and the crossed off Freind/Friend in Claudia's Friend. Read this one! It's great ;D

I also loved this book. Poor BSC members and their egg babies. Lol.

Here in the UK, this book was published under the title 'Mary Anne and Too Many Babies', so when I first noticed people using the '+ 2' spelling online I thought it was some kind of inside joke. This was one of my favourites when I was a kid, if only for the general insanity of the BSC's behaviour and the fact that, well, teen series just aren't complete without the obligatory anti-pregnancy book, are they? I loved the fact that 'Izzy' had charts decorating his walls, although the names bothered me somewhat. Didn't Dawn want to name hers Douglas? That's quite possibly the least Dawn-esque name imaginable.

^ I think Dawn's ended up being "Skip" (didn't she also sit for a baby or child named "Skip") and I don't remember Douglas. I will have to look for the mention of that because it does seem like an unlikely name for dawn to chose. Agree with your other points, kitkat, including being bothered by Izzy's name. But then again, Kristy dates someone named "Bart"...

I remember dawn saying, "douglas is a good, strong name. Skip is a name for a cartoon character." Of course, the douglas that first pops into my mind is doug funnie.

Haha Doug Funnie! Ah I miss that show... they never show it on TV Yeah I've always found this project really strange. Kristy, Alan, Mary Anne and Logan acted... kinda scary for 13 year olds. In my school, I don't think I could imagine anyone taking it seriously. I'd probably take it around with me in school but when out of school, just neglect it and fib in my report But the cream of the crop is when Mal and Jessi act normal and make the bacon and eggs joke about Logan "hogging" Sammy. The other girls remain serious and Claudia says "You two don't understand, you aren't parents yet." Neither are you guys you dipsticks, stop trying to sound oh-so-mature

^ Totally agree and glad I'm not the only one who would have neglected the egg at home - though I probably would have just told the truth and reported on what a pain it was and how I knew it took too much to be a parent (unless I thought I would get a better grade by fibbing ;D) The "hogging" joke is one of my favorites! Mal and Jessi often show a lot more rationality than the older girls.

Looking back from an adult perspective, that sounds to me more like they were simply trying to show off the fact that they were older and therefore doing different things than Mal and Jessi, not that they really cared what the two younger girls thought about egg parenting. I distinctly remember being in grade school, and having kids a year or two act that way about school projects or things they were doing, simply because they knew that *I* couldn't do it yet. Once I got to it myself, of course, I realized that whatever it was usually wasn't that big a deal; but it didn't stop me from being all proud to the younger kids... ;D

Slightly OT, but Mary Anne's classmate in this book is called Gordon Brown.

He's the one who "marries" Howie Johnson, right? I just read that in Complete Guide.
