I hated when Stacey called Claudia at the station. I like the drama, I wanted them to stay mad at Stacey.

Claud mentions that mal looks older than 11... since when? (Other than on the covers of hte books of course..... maybe a reference to that? If she also said that Jessi looks like a man, and the only way to tell Stacey and Dawn apart is that Dawn always wears a big blue shirt, then we'd know that it was a reference to the covers...

I'm about halfway through this one, for the first time, and I am really enjoying it. I used to have a radio show and one of my majors was journalism so I do like the subject to begin with. I also liked Claudia's quest for a hobby, and her parent's reaction. Her dad suggests stamp collecting (because he's into investments, see?) her mom tells her to try homework (ha!) and Janine suggests computer programming. Now, since Claudia is looking for a hobby so she can stop thinking about how she doesn't have a boyfriend, I'd also go with programming. There are lots of guys in programming, and I'm wondering if Janine might have figured that one out. I also love her family's reaction to her news about the radio. her mom asks about school, her dad asks if she'll be paid, and Janine is actually proud of her! Claudia actually appreciates Janine too, which is amazing. And she eats an ungodly amount of junk food in this book.

Programmers make great boyfriends. Janine has the right idea.

My experience with programmers is less pleasant. However, I did enjoy the attention of being one of, like, four attractive females who worked on that floor. And they were loyal and nice to me.

^ There sure are a lot of guys in programming. I'm a computer science major (switched from Social Science) and there are only two girls (me included) in both of my classes combined this semester. But from my experience, they are too know-it-all. Geez.

^Oh I know! I hate to generalize, but sometimes I would be so annoyed when I was working in the labs. The guys would come in, and they would whine and whine and whine about stuff. Either they would be having these circular discussions about mac v pc or whatever else CS majors argue about (i tend to tune out) or they would be whining about how they were made fun of in high school. And that always annoyed me, because I'm like OF course people made fun of you if you are going to act like you do in here. (just loud and obnoxious and mean. like you don't know me or if i'm going to be mean to you, but yet you are going to stand there and say insulting thing about the way I dress? Surprise if people are mean to people who are mean.) But then there were some that were really nice, if a touch cocky.

Both my closest friend AND my boyfriend are male computer programmers. and yeah, they're both arrogant, especially about computer-related things. but obviously it doesn't bother me too much. ;D

I liked all the Claudia/Kristy interaction in this one even though Kristy had a not so secret agenda the whole time. I always felt like Claud and Kristy were best friends without the label. I mean, why was Mary Anne the only one who could have two best friends? Who did she think she was, Karen Brewer? Lol. Claudia seems like a depressed puppy every time Stacey disappears (when Stace moved back to NYC and this one).
I wonder why Claudia didn't suggest seeing the school guidance counselor to that boy that called in. They're free and you get pretty immediate access to them. Kids can't just call up a doctor's office and see someone without their parents being involved. (Unless the allowances in Stoneybrook are amazing and they can afford a doctor on their own.)

The sessions are probably like 25 bucks an hour in Stoneybrook! Heeheee. And we all know that in Stoneybrook, kids can solve any problem without ever conferring with their parents! ;D

Just read this one for the first time, and it was okay. I'm not a big Ashley fan, but she was okay, kinda mean to Claud in the beginning. I thought we'd have a bit more Stace/Claud seeing as they make up in the next one.
Kristy did annoy me, with her constant need to be involved, and trying to (intentionally or not) take over at times.
I liked Janine's support, and think the Kishi parents could take a leaf out of her book.

Claudia gets a job at a radio station -- this book just OOOOOoooOOOooozes with cool-ness for middle school readers. This is probably one of the Top 10 BSC books. Who didn`t like it...
I think this was also one of my sister`s favourite BSC books growing up (she was a Claudia fan!)

I loved the book but I was a bit jealous for Stacey when Claudia became good friends with Ashley. I never thought of Claudia and Kristy being best of friends without the label. Very interesting. This book is one of the bsc books that I actually care for the subplot.
