Cecelia did come over to babysit but first (while waiting for her to come) some neighbor who cooked vegetables neither Jessi or Becca liked watched them. so maybe Cecelia didn't live in Oakley, I thought she did. If she didn't, then it stands to reason Jessi and family may not have seen her on a daily basis or THAT often, which would make her move into their home all the odder.

Weird. If Jessi's street was full of her relatives then why would they rely on someone who didn't live there to watch the kids?

^I'm pretty sure she lived in Oakley when Squirt was born. Jessi's chapter in BSC Remembers was about Cecelia coming over to babysit while their parents were at the hospital. I don't know why I thought Bridgeport. Here's what the CG says: I'm not sure what SS11 says; I don't have it handy. I'm not sure why Jessi and Becca wouldn't go to their other relatives, but maybe all the adults worked during the day or something.

I remember Jessi being annoyed that she had to stick some of Aunt C's belongings in her bedroom, because there was no place else to put them. A table and some other stuff. Jessi's house was supposed to be pretty good-sized, correct? I guess that U-Haul Aunt C brought with her must have been pretty packed. I read this one recently and realized that Jessi's family has a 5-bedroom house. Parents-1. Each of the kids has their own room-4. The guest bedroom turns into Aunt Cecelia's lair-5. It didn't seem like overkill until I remembered that Jessi's family moved into Stacey's old house, so apparently Stacey and her parents had a 5 bedroom house. I guess I understand the table being put in Jessi's room but I don't really understand the two ceramic eggs (I think) that also got stuck in there. Even if Aunt Cecelia wants to have some of her things around to remind her of her old life with her late husband, what is she going to do? Go in Jessi's room and gaze at the eggs?

There may not have been any need for the McGill's to have a five-bedroom house, but they certainly had enough money for a big house even if they didn't need all those bedrooms.

They sure did! It's amazing when you read Stacey's descriptions of her weekends with her dad and you realize just how much money he has to be making. It's just that when I read this book and realized, it made the big yard sale they had to have before moving back to a small (2 br? 3 br?) NYC apartment make even more sense.

I didn't remember that Becca told Charlotte in this book about Aunt C's behavior in I.A. Darn that Charlotte never asked about the adventure. (That we got to hear a re-cap maybe of what Becca originally told Char).
One thing I wanted to ask, slightly OT, is Stacey tells Dr. J that she's been feeling funny and will probably see her doctor in NY soon. Does anyone remember when this started? I think there was at least a 15 book lead up from the first time Stacey's diabetes was becoming harder to deal with and "Stacey's Emergency." I'm asking because in some books, Stacey is fine, or as fine as she can be, then suddenly she's back to not feeling so great. I realize a lot of that is probably Ann's and the Ghosties but was wondering.

This might have been the book when the references about Stacey feeling funny started. I don't remember her saying anything in book #35 about it. I do remember her feeling "off" in book #37 (first chapter), but she attributed it to the room full of hairspray fumes.

Thanks, Candykane, I remember Kristy opening the window in that scene.

The Stacey foreshadowing does start a bit early here, but then this one has Mal worried about her dad losing his job at the end so I guess there's two instances.
This book was just boring! I think the science fair may have been the only redeeming quality for me because I was nerdy and liked those things as a kid. When I was little, I too chose something from this book to do as my project! I did a shadowbox of the surface of the moon, but no skipper and barbie! Thanks BSC for that A!

I re-read this book today and found it not bad. My favourite part was when Jessi calls Aunt Cecilia an OVERBEARING PIG. (Not to her face, in text.)
Jessi was a b*tch to Aunt Cecilia, but I liked it because it was more entertaining and showed Jessi true to her age.

I know. I was a bit shocked that Ann put that in there, when I first read it.

I did Charlotte's project with the plants and music....but I was in high school, not 3rd or 4th grade.
