^ ;D Never thought of that but you're right. Maybe she isn't ditzy at work? Though I'm not sure if that is possible...

Didn't she start studying to be an architect near the end of the series? I imagine her houses will look like this.

^ God help the person who moves into the house that Sharon designs, it would probably fall down on top of them

^ Love it ;D Is the Schafers' CA house described in any other books? I know the Stoneybrook one is. I probably asked this before, but are there any Stoneybrook babysitting chapters in this one?

^haha!! I'm lovin' the house. That is hilarious.
I think Jamie's cousins pop up again in this book- can't remember if they did any other sitting in Stoneybrook or not. The baby-sitting plots in this book didn't really go with the flow of the California theme.

I think that this is the only book where it's described in more detail...

I love the descriptions of their CA house. There might be some descriptions in CA girls too, not sure. But the house sounds BEAUTIFUL... waaaay better than that icky farmhouse they moved into. I can't imagine living there, it sounds dark and cramped.

I love reading about those awful kids ;D Will have to reread just for that (and for Disneyland)

^ I love reading about the Feldmans, too! It's too bad they didn't show up more regularly. Do they appear in this book? I read it not that long ago, but I really can't remember the non-California plot. (It's very likely that I skipped over the baby-sitting/Stoneybrook chapters!) As for Dawn's house in CA, I totally love it too. It sounds gorgeous, with all the skylights and little courtyard. I totally agree, sotypical, I don't think I could live in that dark old farmhouse, either. I think there's a decent description of the CA house in Dawn and the We Love Kids Club, but I might be getting it mixed up with this book.

In California Girls there's a brief description of it. It's supposed to be a Spanish style house, with just one level, sky lights, etc. I'm in love with it.

Even though there isn't really much major drama in this book, I enjoy it as a pretty lighthearted read. There is a lot of foreshadowing about Dawn going back to CA. This time when I read it, though, I started wondering if it got easier for her to go back after her mom married Richard because then she didn't feel like she was leaving her mom alone. I got the idea that was a big motivating force that kept her in CT at the beginning was not wanting to abandon her mom. I always enjoy reading about Jeff being "Disneyland wild" ;D Reminds me of how we always tease my dad about having "Disney Rage" when we go there on vacation. Old people and small children, watch out! He will knock you down ;D I also liked reading about the Austin girls and the carnival. They seem pretty cute. The Stoneybrook sitting chapters were pretty good, too. Feldmans are always good for some excitement and I enjoyed seeing Jessi sit for the Thomas-Brewers. The quote from Dawn about going to "Dawn heaven" made me roll my eyes and laugh at the same time ;D A classic!

It seems like Dawn likes referring to herself in the third person.

Is this the first book where the dreaded 'pro/con' list appears? The BSC always seemed to doing that when they couldn't decide where they wanted to live. Off the top of my head, I can remember them using it in three books (Big Move, Welcome Back Stacey and this one). Even as a kid I felt it was really repetitive.
