it's so weird to read about when dawn decides to switch seats on the plane. she just grabs her things and moves to an empty seat. good luck trying that now. i don't know if i've ever been on a flight that wasn't completely full.

^ Same here. Maybe you and I just take really popular flights and Dawn doesn't?

I was once on a flight that wasn't completely fulll. Granted, I was flying back home during the night but I think during the other night flight I had, it was full (but I didn't check so I'm not sure).

Yeah, it's definitely not common but it sometimes happens, especially on smaller, less popular flights (so...it probably wouldn't happen on whatever Cali flight Dawn was on). I've been on a few smaller flights with empty seats, and it's awesome to get the extra room and stretch out yours legs! One time there were so many empty seats that the stewardess actually needed to redistribute us passengers so that the weight was evenly distributed. Suddenly the plane doesn't seem quite so failproof.

I just flew from Orlando to panama city an it was a quarter full, granted its like a 45 minute flight.
So I do love the California stuff in this, however, i think this book is where I started being really annoyed by dawn.

Something very funny in this book was a tiny moment when Kristy comes to baby-sit at the Pikes. Claire, who is once again calling her mother "Moozie," "moos." Dawn wonders if Claire was simply pretending to be a cow or calling her mom. The wording made me lol. It's on page 109 (original cover). I think Dawn decided to move back to CT so her mom wouldn't be alone. I still wish she had at least mentioned to her mom that she really felt more at home in Palo City. I've said this a zillion times, but SoCal really is a huge place. Sharon could have easily moved to a new town but still be near her kids. Dawn does begin transforming into her more pretentious self as does MA with the pizza scene. Do we really care that the other members argued over toppings to accommodate Dawn and that MA, was the one who put her foot down saying they should do what Dawn wanted? Enough already and it's only just beginning. I also always enjoy the scenes with Dawn and her Dad. Dad's, in a positive light, actually talking with their daughters is so rare in Stoneybrook that it's extra nice when it occurs.

i agree. i am a big fan of jack in general. he's the only one who ever took off work for his kid, and he hosted the bsc at his home and drove half of them cross-country. the other dads (watson and ed in particular) seem so much older in comparison. i did love the portrayal of abby's dad in her portrait though and i think he would have been a lot like jack if he'd lived.

^ Yeah I can see that. Or a potential friendship developing between the two Dads if they had happened to live in Stoneybrook at the same time.

Suddenly the plane doesn't seem quite so failproof. I was on a flight last year that was late because there was a computer problem so they had to, as they told us, shut everything down and reset before we could take off. Maybe the plane was running Windows...?

Watson took the bsc and pikes on that cruise to Florida and Bahamas though in Baby Sitters on Board. But I guess she's happier in California, cause I like reading about her there, not so much in Stoneybrook cause she got miserable way before both moves and there was so much drama.

So I just finished reading Dawn's Big Move and something compelled me to pick this one up and read it next. Even though I've read both books many times before, the stuff that happens in Big Move makes SO much more sense when reading this one right after.

I reread this one last night. One thing I didn't notice before: Dawn said her mom didn't really want Jeff to move back to CA, but agreed to let him try it out for six months. I've only read #15 a handful of times, so I don't remember if they ever said then that his move was just a trial basis. I always assumed it was permanent right from the start.

Yes that is true, I guess it's been way too long to remember all those tiny details But in real life, wouldn't they tell Kristy she will have two friends there already and the other two don't need to come? (three if you count Mallory). I remember how much the Kishis thought Claudia wouldn't imposing on Mr. McGill for going to NYC for the art classes until he phoned, and there may have been something in Here Come the Bridesmaids when she was going there to do "Wedding Pictures"
