I also used to think that putting my name in the books de-valued them, and I was always too much of a perfectionist to write in them. BSC books were different though, especially when they had the Scrapbooks in the later series. Also, I tended to lend my books to kids in the class and I always wanted them back so I would write my name in them as a reminder.

^Virgo, that's good idea, let kids know, it's your book, you wanted back.
I let my older sister brother my one book. (Not BSC or LS.) Some how, she lost it or misplace it. It's been years since I seen the book. Maybe at the used book store, I might find it.
One of the staff member, where I work at. Mention about swamp books with other people in your community. Seems good idea, but who knows, if that person will give back my book or not. I rather buy the book or rent the book from the library. (Library, only lets you take out books for three weeks.) So, you have to rush of reading, even took so many books out at once.

I wrote my name in some of mine, but I don't think I gave any of those away. I DID give away some of my least favorites when I was in high school. Little did I know that I'd actually want the whole collection someday! I highly doubt that I own any that used to belong to anyone on the boards. Most of my later purchases were made at local thrift stores, and I don't think there are very many Seattleites here!

Plenty of people of great note believe quite the opposite about writing in books; some writers add much marginalia to what they read. I occasionally do with my nonfiction books.

^Sure, but I think we're talking more about kids writing their names on the cover in glitter ink with maybe a sticker added for good measure. I've bought books that had kids' phone numbers and/or addresses written on them, lol.

I regret writing my name, filling out forms, and scribbling notes all over mine. I could have sold the ones I don't want anymore.

True, there's a difference...but we adults putting our names in them is another matter too.

I only gave away a couple of my BSC books (I thought I was outgrowing them so I donated a few for an "angel tree" Christmas donation project at church... and when I wanted to complete my collection, I rebought them from eBay, haha) but I still have all the rest. Mine are in meh condition-- I wrote my first name in cursive inside the cover, I filled out a couple of the pages at the back, and I did the checklist on the covers for the later books... mostly you can tell they're mine because they have stains from chocolate and cheetos and stuff on the edges! (I loved to snack and read, apparently...)

Theirs a Megan Philip in BSC #2 book. (That I own.) She circle her i's. Put lines underneath her name, gets smaller each time. Their are 10 lines.
