Was this the one where Derek is scared of kissing the girl? I liked that subplot when the Pike boys push Vanessa towards him and they both freak. I'm sure a lot of kids can relate as I know that's a big issue for kids that age.

I went on a date when I was 8. we walked to the playground at the drive in church together. Then we walked back, and I told my friends he held my hand (he didn't), and he told his friends he kissed me (again, no), and then he went on vacation to aruba, and i went to summer camp for 6 weeks, and the next thing I knew - we were in high school, and he was super popular and hot, and I was the weird girl who studied a lot and did every extra-curricular and smoked a lot of pot (again, I didn't, but reputation.. no idea)... and I have no idea what happened him. His parents probably go to the same church my parents do. I should find out. .. Memories.
Oh, and in fifth grade, this boy asked me to go to the ninja turtles movie with him. He had a rat tail, so I said no. I guess we would have asked our parents to drive, or we would take the bus.

Heh, I love how the triplets pimp Vanessa out just to see if Derek's really an expert kisser.
I don't know why I loved this mystery as a kid. It was really boring. There wasn't really a mystery, and the sort-of mystery they had (what's Janine up to?) was obvious if you could read between the lines. I didn't love the sub-plot either, but at the same time I didn't mind it terribly. Funnier than most, though. ;D

Nice one. I liked the way Claud described Janine's make-up. She must have looked horrifying ans certainly not like Janine at all.

I like this mystery because it is a mystery that 13-year-olds would actually be dealing with, rather than a mystery that even the police couldn't solve, like the counterfeiter thing. I loved the makeover scene. It was cool that Claudia was the one helping Janine with something this time around. Janine does a lot for Claudia, so it was nice. I could have done without Derek Masters - guest starring on a detective show does not a real detective make! I do like Todd Masters, though. He seems cute and sweet. I hated how Mallory guessed the truth - that Janine had a boyfriend - and the rest of them dismissed it like Janine having a boyfriend was ridiculous. I guess smart, studious girls who don't care about fashion aren't supposed to have boyfriends. *eyeroll*

^ Even if Derek wasn't a "real" detective, I loved how they played that they were. I used to do that all the time as a kid (and even thought I was a "real" detective ;D) so I can relate. I actually liked that Mal guessed the truth because it shows how she's one of the most logical members sometimes.

I usually like Derek but couldn't really get into the subplot. Did they act out some kind of courtroom scene or am I totally making that up?

I loved the courtroom scene in this one. After reading that, my cousins and I tried to make a "movie" with a courtroom scene (didn't work out too well, though ;D) ;D

I liked how she guessed the truth as well. The way I wrote that made it look like I thought otherwise, I think. What I really hated was how the other girls acted like Janine having a boyfriend wasn't even possible. I guess only dibbly fresh BSC members are allowed to snag a guy. ;D

^ I always got more of the impression that the girls just assumed Janine didn't want a boyfriend (a logical assumtion, I think, or at least a common one. ;D People always assume this about me and are usually right - no time for a guy right now. ;D) more than that she couldn't get one.
