I agree, toshemeup, about Mrs. Barrett. Suzi also asked about Santa reading his letters, and Mrs. Barrett said all those letters must take up "a few rooms." Tell your daughter that he keeps them in his sack and reads them all in plenty of time, and that she has nothing to worry about. Not that hard!
This book is hilarious. Jeff is awesome. So is Kristy, for bringing a referee whistle to a farewell party. Ben Hobart is kind of a psycho. He yells at Mallory over the phone when she can't go caroling on the day they talked about. Then at the end they're both like "haha that was so dumb we can just go caroling ANY OLD DAY." Duh.
Loved at the end when Claudia writes that she received a postcard from Jack and Carol while they were on their honeymoon. The card had a picture of a guitarist and said "Mexico Lindo" and Claudia's like "I guess that's the guy's name. Sounds like a girl to me." It actually means "pretty Mexico." ;D

I just finished reading this book again today. I enjoyed it even more than I normally do, I think because it combined two of my favorite things, weddings and Christmas

I think the book really sucks to be honest, I remember being disappointed with it when I bought it though I thought it would be great. I don't like the clothes on the cover but I did like the dresses when I first bought it and thought Maryann was being bratty about it at the time though now i think Dawn gets too optimistic and should have known Maryanne is picky

I just read the line where Mallory tells Ben that last year she bought Claire a hole puncher and it was her favourite gift. Hee, hee, hee. Either Claire's even weirder than we thought, or Christmas at the Pikes' really sucks sometimes.

Now I picture Claire making homemade confetti all over the house.

There are some really funny Mallory moments in this book that I'd never paid much attention to before. Like when she's singing the wrong words to Christmas carols on purpose; those are pretty clever. Or these lines, where she's late getting home but her parents don't notice:
This passage where she's watching the Barrett/DeWitt kids during the wedding is also really funny, although not because of Mallory:

It's nice that Jack and Carol got married. The only downside was the obligatory super special fight. I thought that it was dumb of Dawn to just assume that Mary Anne was going to be a bridesmaid at the wedding. I liked Jeff's chapters. I thought that it was sweet that he was worried about what would happen with Mrs. Bruen after Carol and Jack got married.

^ yeah, dawn is stupid. why does she get to pick the bridesmaids for somebody else's special day? we all know she's going to be such a bridezilla when she gets married.

I think Dawn will be a bridezilla in the sense that she'll be so determined to keep her big day laid back and relaxed that she'll actually end up freaking out more.

I can understand that Jack (and Carol) were relieved and happy Dawn finally accepted their mariage and maybe that was why they were both okay with almost the entire BSC being on hand. However, I still think, Jack especially, might (should) have wanted the few days before the wedding and certainly before the honeymoon to be somewhat family time. As for MA being a bridesmaid, honestly it would have made more sense if Sunny or one of Dawn's CA friends had been asked simply because, at least Jack (and Carol) would know that person a little better than MA. Like most of you, I liked the Jeff and Suzi chapters but that was about it. I totally wonder as someone else said what Jack thought of Sharon's hasty marriage and hey, while we're at it, did Sharon have any qualms about Carol? When Dawn finally moves to CA for good, the Schafers all still live in the home Sharon was once apart of. Wouldn't she feel even more "written off" from her kids? I know she has a new CT life, but her kids were in CA.

^ even though jeff and dawn were the ones who left sharon, when you put it like that it sounds like sharon got remarried and left them. haha. but i'm sure sharon felt a little left out of the whole situation. everything is the same except she's been replaced with a younger wife. even though she's remarried and already moved on, a little part on the inside has to hurt knowing your ex has moved on too. it's not totally fair but still. i guess part of it for me is that sharon has known richard forever (longer than she's known jack) but jack and carol started re-dating and got engaged in the same book.
