^ I don't know, I change my opinions on which books I like and don't like daily, but overall, I don't like the later books as much. There are exceptions of course, and sometimes I'll read a book and like it, then re-read it and hate it.. I just don't really want to order stuff, because I eventually come across it in the bookstores. So I think I'll just read the ebook (if there is one), and wait for it to show up, as long as you guys don't think it will be significantly different reading.

^ As long as it's spellchecked as an e-book ;D and you don't mind e-books, I'm sure reading it that way is just as good. I hate ordering, too, for the same reason and it seems like the book always shows up right after I order it but before I actually receive it. ;D

Thanks Greer. I just realized that I still have like 20 books to read before I get to this one! It seems like it's time for a SS though. They must have counted mystery specials as super specials, which is NOT fair. I'm looking forward to Hawaii!

I might have to join the lj community so I can read this one. I would love to go back to Hawaii right about now.

I haven't been to Hawaii, but I'd like to go someday. I've been to Phuket, which is also an island (I think) in a warm climate with a booming tourist trade.. so it's sort of the same, right? Probably not. But they filmed the scenes on lost that took there in hawaii (actually, the whole show is filmed in hawaii), so it has to look sort of the same. ... I'm going to look up airfares to honolulu, maybe i can go there with my tax rebate.
I wish I were there right now, instead of reading kristy's and the missing fortune. It's annoying me, because they all have cabin fever, and I have cabin fever, and I'm sitting at home on a saturday night and I'm cold and I don't even want to ski...

You should definitely go if you get the chance. My husband and I went to Maui last summer for our 5th anniversary. If we ever go back, I think we'll go to Honolulu.

My roommate senior year of hs was from Thailand and had a Phuket tshirt and everyone made fun of it for the obvious joke ;D
i was almost going to go to thailand in march but i decided it'd be cheaper to go to thailand when i was living in europe, instead of flying from usa.

Read this for the first time yesterday, and yeah, I was bored by most of it. That looks to be a fairly popular opinion about this one. Even the illustrations were boring. Random pictures of pineapples and bird crossing signs (seriously?!) and a pile of souvenirs. Shallow, but Abby's got quite the bod. I think I saw her rib cage in the volley ball bikini picture. The one were everyone is lifting Stacey up, Mary Anne looks hilariously asleep standing up. Seriously, someone look that one up. Page 199. Tell me what Mary Anne is doing. Something was off about this one. At times I felt like I was reading a text book. I prefer my BSC books a little less educational. ;D I don't like when Claudia is sad because it's always over something that is 100% not her fault but she blames herself anyway. We read The Diary of Ann Frank in 8th grade English and I remember one girl was like "OMG I'm 100% German so I helped do this to these people." No. Same thing with Claudia. I was scared to read the Kristy and Mallory chapters because I thought they would all be about them frolicking with that goat I hate. I was pleasantly surprised.

Hah, Elvira has not captivated you with her magic? I did kind of sympathize with Claudia a bit, because in the early 80s a book was written which implicated members of my church community with some sort of Nazi involvement and there were a few people deported. So that freaked me out a bit, naturally, when I found out about it. The book was terribly researched and everything, but still, freaky.

I noticed that at the end the teachers had two big boxes of leis in the airport, so they could give a lei to each of the students (which Logan is really excited about. He wanted a lei. Yup ). Wouldn't that be expensive? My sister went to Hawaii two summers ago and said she wanted one when she was coming back, but that they were like 30+ bucks each and she wasn't going to spend the money. Also, that people were bringing back all these pineapples with them, which is understandable because OMG AUTHENTIC HAWAIIAN PINEAPPLES!, but that would be such a pain to take on the flight home.

The powers that be at SMS got this whole trip arranged for $500 per person. Ten day trip to Hawaii, plane tickets there and back, 3 meals a day, hotel rooms all for $500. I WANT THEIR TRAVEL AGENT.

^ That's ridiculously cheap, even if they got some sort of a discount because they were part of a school group. It's also one of the rare times in the series that the cost of something was actually mentioned!
