Sarish, you live in Florida!! You should go!
I love Disney so much that sometimes I consider moving back to the States to California or Florida, even though I hate hot weather.
I've been to Tokyo Disney as well. DisneySea is the MOST AMAZING theme park ever. The parks there are run by a different company and license the Disney name, and they truly spare no expense and have great attention to detail.

One of Afton's favorite places to go was Disney World. We also went to Disneyland a couple of times. I love it there. In fact Afton's Dad and I just spent 10 weeks in Florida, we rented a townhouse about 2 miles from Disney World. We have annual passes and we would go into one of the parks almost every day and we'd go to a different resort every day to walk. The flowers were just beautiful there and we have so many good memories of when we were there with Afton. The haunted mansion line is changed, lots of interactive things now while you wait. They hadn't finished the ghosts at the end yet when we left the end of March. love that ride, any age can experience disney and have fun. There is a half marathon at DL I believe labor day weekend, a friend of Afton's is running in it. Afton would always do Claudia sightings (people dressed like Claudia would dress) when she'd go to dw, Tom and I found ourselves doing that this time too

There's even the perfect hotel to stay at, just for our very own, "Candykane." It's called The Candy Cane Inn! Awesome!

What is DisneySea, Greer?
Alnmom, hug, that is awesome that you and husband still have annual passports to DW. Lol, to the "Claudia-dress sightings."
Candykane, I thought you would like that. It's a little more expensive than some of the other motels, but it's much nicer. I appreciate that the place is completely non smoking. It also has a bus that takes you to Downtown Disney and then later back to the hotel for free. I think the "best" part is, adjacent to the hotel is a small mini mart that has a ton of Disney items and at a good price. Behind this store, is a 7-11 that also has some (not as many as the mini mart) Disney stuff for cheaper than the park. For "Claudia," the C.K. Inn literally has a basket of those mini candy canes in the lobby for guests to take.

^ I love that initials of the hotel are CK. Carol, I can totally see Afton getting a kick out of looking for "Claudias!" I do that too, sometimes!

Hey alnmom, I was reading this entire thread and noticed that a lot of the post are about aln's Disney World memories. It must be nice to have this board, too, and to be able to look back on aln's particular memories in the exact way she phrased or typed them.
booboobrewer, you ask earlier if the mentioning of countess reminded anyone of Countess Luann from TRHONYC. I immediately thought of her; she's one of my favourites! If you haven't seen the spoofs on YouTube, you must go look!
greer, you mentioned something that I thought while reading this, too. I am fresh off of reading Here Comes the Bridesmaids where Mr. Kishi gets all self righteous about Claudia not going to California, and yet this trip is okay? Word.
Dawn and Claudia kind of had it made on this trip. They got to go AND NOT have to babysit. How shocking in BSC land! I felt bad for Stacey and MA at times. But if you think about it, the Pikes only really needed 3 cabins. One for the 4 boys, one for Stacey, MA, Mal and Vanessa and Claire and Margo could have bunked with their parents. I guess because they got the trip paid for for free that it didn't really matter...
I liked how Dawn was fearless and went searching for Parker when he suddenly left. It showed the independent spirit of Dawn before the Travis and Lewis incidents. But I didn't think that she and Parker really jelled that well. And when I go back and look at their first encounter, that kind of explains it. But then again, they are 13, and kids do get shy, and what am I expecting from the whole situation?
The cover bothers me although I do like Mary Anne in it. Claudia somehow bothers me the most because they make her so midget-like in the first few Super Specials. Seriously. She's way smaller than Kristy. And what's up with her Nana sweater? Or something that an old Math teacher would wear? HOW is that hip? Because she's wearing it with funky earrings?
I always shrug this SS off and I don't know why. I actually enjoy it. Karen looks like a cabbage patch doll.

^Virgoscorpio, I have problems with the cover, too! Kristy and MA look too much alike... almost like they used the same model for both girls. Dawn looks just like Jan Brady circa Brady Bunch season two, and Stacey looks like a life-sized doll. Claudia looks really off, too. I also agree about Mr. Kishi. I just read that one as well, and the money discussion really boggled and annoyed me. Complain about not being able to afford the trip and then get your feelings hurt when people offer to help because you don't want them to think you can't afford it. Stereotypically Asian male reaction... ugh. I love Disney, too! I've never been to the one in Florida (not interested... I'm a California Disney Land purist, lol), but DisneyLand is one of my favorite places ever. I want to go now!

I have never even been to America. Or Disney Land - I keep meaning to go but I spend all my money going to Formula One races instead. There's a Disney World in Paris I should go there..

Sheep were in too once in BSC-land, so math teacher sweaters were in, and it was the early 90's, they were everywhere.

I read 27 pages of this post. Wow, theirs lot i don't remember in the book. I still haven't found it yet at garage sale book sale or thrift store. If, i can't find this book. I can rent it, from the library. I never been to DL or DW. If, I do go someday. How many slow rides do they have? I can't go on any of the fast rides. Because of my hip fusion. (the hip bone is fused to my backbone since 2003) & my hole in heart called ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) Reading from the pages of posts when Mallory wandering alone by herself. My parents wouldn't let me wander off alone at that age. My mom wouldn't let me alone. If we went to a strange Island never been their before. She does let me go alone in stores at Frankenmuth. I'll tell where I'm going. Then, they will meet me there at the store. I was 15. when I got molested. It was a student boy in my classroom. He was stranger. Cause, I only know him in school. for only 1 month, when I started in 9th grade, in 1998. The school had me started late. Cause, We moved in Aug. 31, 1997. (at our old house) The school was already started. So, their like, oh Melissa you start after the Holidays. So, I'll update later. When I read the book. What I think about this book.

Buttercup, hug again and I really do admire you. It's nice to have a fellow BSC fan who is also not a fan of fast rides. I've never been one for roller coasters. Now, with my TMJ I couldn't go on them anyway. I've never been to DW but at DL some slower rides that I've always enjoyed are: Disneyland Railroad Small World Nemo Submarine (Not sure of exact name) Pinocchio Winnie the Pooh (yay Wiggirl. She works on this ride) Dumbo Basically most all of Fantasyland. I also used to enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted House. Lol, HH is the only HH type ride I'll go on. Karen and I have in common not liking monsters jumping out at us. I hope you get to go to DL or DW sometime.

I read this one again and am always sad that we never hear about the characters again. I feel like they could have visited Marc or mr staples in bsc in the USA!
I still love the Disney stuff. This book reminds me of why I came here to work. Sometimes you lose sight of that in the day to day bs an politics. I still have tomorrow off from my vaca so this book inspired me to go to Epcot!
