My mom thinks it would be a good idea for our family and my husband's family to all go on a cruise and to Disney World together sometime. I agree, in part because it would be like this book! But she says maybe in two years, and I'm not sure Mr. Frog would be ready for that. He had a great time when we were there (we got back a few days ago), but it wore him out a bit and he says maybe he'll be ready to go back in another ten years...
Maybe he'll change his mind when he gets some more rest and recharges his batteries a bit!

Wiggir13 you work at WDW?! I am so jealous. I went on my first Disney trip (and overseas trip) with Featherearrings in June, and loved it! I think about going back there often, although I probably should go to Europe or something next (no one in Australia ever visits the US, most go to Europe, or if they do go the US they go to NY). But I often think I should just move over and work there, Florida weather is similar to Qld weather, but I think we have less rain. But I'd love to work in HR for Disney one day! I read this book on the plane from NH to FL, but by the time I was leaving FL the cover was wrecked, so I threw it out I was worried about my luggage limits too. But I loved reading it, then living it!

I still love the Disney stuff. This book reminds me of why I came here to work. Sometimes you lose sight of that in the day to day bs an politics. I still have tomorrow off from my vaca so this book inspired me to go to Epcot! i really admire that you have found a way to still love what you do, even when business gets in the way. sometimes it feels like my work experience has just made me bitter and short-tempered. but of course working at disney world just sounds amazing! :]

Well don't admire me too much, there was a time not too long ago that I hated it so much I was ready to say f it. I must say I got my 10 year plaque and pin not too long ago and really can't believe I have been here this long! I love out product so much but it is definitely hard to sit back and appreciate the business and politics aspect of it. It has become a use then lose situation for me which is hard. I worked very hard on a specific project that was ridiculously huge (fantasyland expansion) only to be taken out of it once I had done all the work and a little corporate kiss ass was brought in and has not gotten credit for everything that I did. Unfortunately, it isn't the first time for me and a lot of the people I care about so I have taken on a new attitude now at work.
I am now working on starting my MBA so that in three years I can move on. I will always love our product, but I am real done with the other piece.

^I'm sorry Wiggirl, how awful and frustrating. For an "outsider" like me, working at a Disneyland-type park really does sound like a dream come true, it's something I have always wanted to do at least for one time in my life. Sad the reality isn't quite that nice. I hope things do get better for you. I know all too well how working environment can be toxic. I will keep a good thought things improve

Don't get me wrong, it has been a great ride and there are a lot of cool things about working there, but I just think its time for something new. I always dreamed of working there Nd I did it! Not many people can say that!

This was one of Afton's favorite BSC books, she would read it every time we went to Disney World Tom and I were very happy to meet Wiggirl13 at WDW last year. She is an awesome cast member. I'm glad that she is still working at AK now, she did a great job in Fantasyland. From what I observed Disney isn't into treating there employees that great, it seems to be all about the dollar these days. It has really changed since we first started going in 1984. But, the magic can still be there, I'm sure it was for the BSC when they went Hope that Wanderingfrog had a great time there recently. Did you do any Claudia sightings?

wiggir13, it'll be cool to see the Fantasyland expansion someday and know that you were one of the people working on it! It really sucks not getting the credit you deserve at work, but at least we'll know. I guess last Tuesday when I was at the Magic Kingdom I could've gotten a preview of Belle's cottage and Enchanted Tales with Belle if I'd been in the right place at the right time, but I didn't know about it until later. Boo.
alnmom, I had a great time and so did my husband.

I saw it in the 80's in Florida, got it on tape years later and then it came back to Disney after mj's death, I would love to see it in 3D again since I was really young when I saw it and can't remember the 3D version.

I just read through all 28 pages. I have to first apologize to "Dumbo" for not mentioning what a fan I am of that ride. In fact the other day I had the thought that it was too bad we never heard of Ryan or Meaghan Mouse outside of "NY,NY." Mal could have made either or both befriend "Timothy Mouse," (He's the critter who gives Dumbo the magic feather to fly). I will always love this book because of how much I love all things Disney and memories of DL. I also enjoyed so much reading Afton's posts. I was reading through this thread just now (June, 2014) and editing a few posts of mine for clarification or spelling and immediately added Dumbo to my list. A couple things I wanted to point out/ask about. Dawn tells us both sets of her Grandparents lived on the East Coast. Does that mean, at one time anyway, Jack lived back East? Regarding Claudia and the mini fridge. Isn't that what she has at home minus the fridge? I could totally get her excitement at seeing a (sort of ) hidden or restricted junk food supply ready and waiting for her. It would have been cool had either Dawn or Kristy brought that up. As much as I love I.A. (unique story-line and memories of childhood treasure hunts) and Snowbound (it was the only strictly Stoneybrook SS besides the Peter Pan one that I don't much like), this one will always have a special place in my heart because it is all things Disney and of the friendship between Kristy and Mr. Staples, too. (My Grandpa memories). ITA with so many others that I wish he and also Marc had made future appearances. Of all the one-time characters we came to meet, besides Sonny the dog perhaps , I bonded with those two the most.

^Oh, gosh, the line where Stacey wonders why some people have good health and others have trials or tests, and why such a small kid as Marc is faced with such a big test, that always makes me cry.
