agree with those of you who liked richie... except for the rattail. why did you have to do that to him? why ann why? although he did say his "foot likes chelsea" which is suspicious to me.

^As for Stacey acting like a tourist, I can kind of understand that because I like pretending to be a tourist sometimes in my own town I admit, I do do that myself when I go to Chicago, especially if I haven't gone in a while and especially at Christmas.

^ Hee, I just reread this and that leapt out at me! I always thought it was suspicous that a thirteen-year-old boy would even know what Laura Ashley clothes were (although that's kind of another of ANM's obsessions, isn't it?), but juxtaposed with the Chelsea thing. . .yeah.

I never cease to be like a tourist in my own city whenever I go out with people. I tend to forget how cool everything is - I live my day to day life here and I forget that if I want to see or do something cool, it's all there for me! So I can understand that, sort of, except for the fact that Stacey is WAY too sophisticated to be doing that!

I haven't read this one in a while, and I was wondering about the art class -- did they ever do anything besides go somewhere and draw? Did "mac" ever actually teach anything, or did he just go around telling people to draw slower or that they were doing a good job?

Ann had some weird thing for ratails, maybe it was a sexual fetish of hers?
I enjoyed this Special. I never worked out why they were called 'Special's' in the UK instead of 'Super Special.'
Claudia was a cow to Mallory in this one! Mallory is such a dork though - but she is so loveable with it!
I thought it was weird that the Harrington's would let their kids be looked after by such young babysitters in NYC, especially ones they hadn't met before, even if they were 'vetted.'
Jessi going to the ballet and meeting Quint - who lets an eleven year old loose on NYC on their own?
Dawn was a muppet in this one - indivudual girl in Cali can date a 17 year old (Travis?), solve mysteries, go to parties with alcohol but is scared of NYC.
Why do the whole families always have to see them off? It's embarassing!
And I'm wondering, when was the BSC actually ever open - they were ALWAYS on trips!

I think rattails were just popular at the time.

Why do the whole families always have to see them off? It's embarassing! I wondered that too and agree that it was embarrassing. If I remember right, MA even brought Tigger in his carrier to see her off. I was like, WTF? That went a little overboard.

^ Tigger was definitely a bit much. I did think it was nice, though, that the whole family came but they did get a bit too dramatic.

It's especially hilarious since nyc is so close to stoneybrook.

^ I know. ;D But I guess the girls were going away for more than just a weekend. Who all was there? Were the Pikes and Ramseys? I don't remember them, probably because I was distracted by Tigger and the Thomas-Brewer army. ;D

^ I'm pretty sure all of the Pikes were there. What a scene that must've been! Is this the one where the triplets make a welcome home banner (with graphics!) on the computer? Reading that now makes me smile. It was cutting-edge technology and a big deal to use a computer at the time, but it's so dated now that it's almost sweet.

Yup, they made their welcome back banner on their computer.
Speaking of when everyone is reunited in the end, Claudia seems so totally bored to see her parents and Janine again, which I think is funny. the book starts off with her entry about begging her parents to go to New York and all excited to take the class, and when she comes home she's just like "Ehh." I think they say "You're back!!!" and in her head she's like "What did they expect?"

^ I think the whole trip was kind of a disappointment for Claudia because she had it built up so much in her mind. Then when she got home, she was probably a bit embarrassed that it wasn't what she had expected and hoped for. I hadn't noticed her reaction but haven't read this one for a while. I was probably busy being overwhelmed by the Pikes. ;D I loved the banner that the triplets made and like it when they do nice things like that for Mal.
