I went to our downtown Living Windows display on Friday night. Basically, stores were supposed to decorate their windows and have people doing stuff in them. A lot of places were giving away cookies/hot cocoa/cider. There was a live Nativity scene in our farmers' market pavilion. It all sounds very Hallmark channel/Gilmore Girls episode in theory. However, it was 50 degrees that day, the crowds were shoulder to shoulder, and none of the window people were really doing much of anything.
We left there and drove around looking at Christmas lights. There is an entire street in town that renamed itself Candy Cane Lane, and every single house on the street had candy cane decorations in their yard. Like, a lot of candy canes. There were a good 25 houses on the street, too. I'm trying to picture how that conversation would go with my neighbors.

We took the dog to Christmas in the Park. There are tons and tons of displays lit up and moving (some of them so big you drive under them) and I loved it when I was little. Otis was clearly confused but he seemed to have fun.

Christmas lights are like fireworks without the scary noises that come with. I can see how dogs would be skeptical but intrigued.
Have you worn any Christmas garb yet this year?

I ran out of Christmas garb and had to start repeating my stash. I had this brilliant idea a few days ago that I should get 25 different Christmas tops next year and wear a different one each day like an advent calendar. It'd be like a whole new wardrobe for one month out of the year. My sister was like "let me know if you need help looking for shirts," so I expect some ugly stuff to be appearing soon. Do you get a Christmas bonus at your place of employment?

I did, a small (like a tank of gas small) handwritten check with my name misspelled. My bank didn't even glance at it, lol. There are Reddit threads bitching about gifts like cups of Chex mix and Panera gift cards. I'm not picky. Gimme whatever.

We got a big catered lunch party, and this year's gift was a really nice branded polo. We don't get money bonuses because of all the rules about state employee salaries.
