I loved the zoo trip. I felt bad for Jannine since she was too sick to go on the trip. Maybe next time I'm sick, I'll read this book to see if I feel better.

I thought it was interesting how Ann added in the part where Karen wraps Rocky's dirty, hairy blanket around her while she sneaks downstairs and watches TV. I guess to show how sick she really was and didn't care about the gross state of the blanket... Also, why is Nancy so mature sometimes? Seriously, she acts like a 40 year old. How would a 7 year old know what an aviary is?

I always got the feeling Nancy was a pretty smart kid, and she was an only child until she was in second grade, so she probably got quite a bit of time with her parents. They may have been the only people in Stoneybrook who weren't constantly calling the BSC when they needed to run errands. Nancy might have seemed older just because she spent more time with adults.

Nancy might have seemed older just because she spent more time with adults. As long as the adults weren't too old, because then she freaked out about them. She was slightly hysterical by just seeing a picture of Karen's granny.

Only children often are that way if they aren't spoiled.

I guess the Asian-looking kid on the cover is Bobby Ms. Colman is so lovely. It was cute how she brought Jannie a postcard souvenir because she missed the class trip.

Presumably, Supprazz. Gianelli is a rather Italian sounding name!

Yeah I thought he was Italian cause of his last name
The book is good, but it focuses more on all the kids getting sick, though it was nice hearing about the trip and their animal projects. It's easier to relate to if you're in elementary school.

Bobby is Italian which is why I pointed out that he looks Asian on the cover of this book.

I love this book. Finally, found this book.
I remember, going to the zoo, for field trip. We went to Detroit Zoo One year, went to Ohio zoo. My parents, came with me. We had two other girls, in the car with us. We didn't take the bus. (Cause, the school, I went to. Didn't have a bus. It's a Christian School. You have drive your kids to school.) Teacher will send fliers, so any parent, who wants to chaperone & drive the kids to any field trip. Sometimes, my mom will chaperone or other times, I'll go into other classmates parent's car.
I don't think, none of my classes got sick week before a field trip.
That was nice of Ms. Colman, buying the postcard book for Jeannie.

We went to the zoo in my kindergarten year and my mom came with us, but we were all on the bus together, maybe even two buses. I remember that the two of us, two other boys with one of their moms and a friend of mine were all in a group together when we split up, and now I'm remembering what I ate: I'm pretty sure it was kebab, and also buying a package of cookies I'd been to the zoo so many times by then so I can't recall seeing anything special that day, just walking around a lot feeling hot and tired We went again in my 2nd grade year when I tried out private school for a year. Almost everyone's mom came, but mine didn't, and I was even more exhausted at this trip, especially cause I forgot to wear my school trip uniform (sweats or gym outfit) and was boiling in my kilt and sweater.

I really liked this one, although it lacked any plot whatsoever, since the problem is that the zoo trip will have to be postponed if too many kids still have the flu, and the "resolution" of the problem is that nobody but Jannie is sick anymore by the day of the trip. It paints a pretty accurate picture of what it's like being sick with the flu (without being boring and gross like in Elizabeth8289's fics), so I feel bad for Karen. She's also not obnoxious to anyone in this book! I love when she's so happy to hear Ms. Colman tell Natalie to use her indoor voice because she's glad it's someone else and not her for a change. I like seeing Mrs. Hoffman again, and I think the projects the kids do on their "secret" animals are pretty cool. I especially like that Hannie's animal is the snow leopard because I am very fond of snow leopards. I have two plush ones, one of which I got at the gift shop at my local zoo and named after the zoo's snow leopard, who is called Lexie. The zoo trip sounds like lots of fun, and I strongly support Karen's lunch including a brownie and another brownie. Oh, and I also liked that Karen said she'd ask Mommy or Seth to sew her zoo patch on. Seth the bearded carpenter can sew, too? Awesome.
