Who is your favourite BSC Dad? I haven't included Patrick Thomas or Abby's Dad as they don't really appear in the BSC series. My favourite is probably Richard. I know he was strict with Mary Anne but it's clear how much he adored her and just wanted the best for her. I love their interaction in the series and their growing bond as father and daughter. I love their shopping trip in MA's Makeover! Close second would be John Ramsey! He seemed like a fun dad

^ I've been thinking about starting this thread, too. ;D But I wanted to vote for Patrick - ha ha. ;D I did like what I read about Abby's dad, though, and wish he would have been in the series more. As for the ones listed, I chose Waston, though it is basically a tie between him and Richard because I really like both of them. I also love MA and Richard's shopping trip so not sure exactly why I chose Watson over Richard - maybe because he seems a little "warmer" through the whole series. That said, I think he's actually a better dad to the Thomas kids than he is to Karen and Andrew in LS books so maybe I made the wrong choice. ;D I also really like Mr. Pike and Mr. Ramsey but can't stand Mr. McGill or Jack Schafer and don't really have an opinion on Mr. Kishi. He seems so disconnected, though he seems okay in some books and I think he's a pretty decent dad.

I really like Richard. I chose him solely because there aren't a billion other kids to share him with, otherwise Watson would be a good second pick. Also, the little we find out about Mr. Pike seems cool . I mean, it's not his fault that Mallory invents drama -- If she would just ask for things, she would get them. He even offered to pay for more riding lessons.
I mean, yeah, daddy stew sounds horrible, but at least he tries. And he was willing to make macaroni scultures and stuff with Claire when he was out of work. My dad would have never done that, or cooked.
But mostly, I would go with Richard. I would love to have him be willing to take me to cultural events and get tears in his eyes over how much I'm growing up.
Oh, and while I think Ed is selfish and kind of a jerk, he would be nice to blackmail and make him buy me things to make up for his lack of parenting skills.

I really like Richard -- he did want the best for MA and he was so nice to everyone. Not too fond of Dawn's dad....seemed like he was going to be a bachelor for the rest of his life.

I voted for John Ramsey because of an passge about him coming home from work in...Jessi's Horrible Prank? I think?
It was actually a tie between him and Watson but John's rolling on the ground with his kids while still in his work clothes and joking about the stains Aunt Cecilia would have to get out won me over Watson's generosity. I guess it was just the simple daily exchange.

^I loved that scene! I wish we could have seen more of Mr. Ramsey.
I guess my pick of the dads would be Richard. He reminds me of my own dad in a lot of ways, so maybe that's why.

I loved John Ramsey, we didn't see much of him, but in a few books like Happy Holidays' Jessi, he was awesome.

I voted for Watson, but really it was a tie between Watson and Richard.

^ That's how it was for me, too. Watson seems very "warmly involved" (I just can't find a better word ;D) in the kids' lives, like he doesn't mind having fun with them. I especially loved the LS books when he and Karen would do things together - the one where they brush Blueberry in Karen's Pony being the first that comes to mind - and the only part I liked of Karen's Chicken Pox (which didn't give me a very good impression of Watson, though, overall) was when he dressed up as a farmer to take Emily trick or treating. My dad was always "playing" with me so that's what things like that made me think of. Richard reminds me of my dad in many ways but he is way more serious.

i voted for richard as well. i didn't like him when i was little, but now that i'm older i appreciate him more. i especially like him in ma's portrait. he seemed like a really great dad to ma when he was little, which kind of makes up for the not-so-great strict way he treated ma later.

^ I really liked Richard in MA's Book, too, and really found him strict only in a few books. He definitely didn't seem that strict in books like MA's Makeover. I really liked it when he "loosened up" in books like Dawn's Big Move. ;D

So far Richard, Watson and John Ramsey seem to be the most popular!

I chose Watson because I really like how he took the Thomas kids and took care of them like they were his biological kids. He seemed like such a caring man.
