Yes, I did all the BSC books. I didn't do the LS (at that time silly me didn't realize I would become an LS fan), KIMCC, and the CA Diaries, of which I still have no interest in. Oh and I didn't do Secret Santa or Chain Letter, but everything else is covered. I'd definitely welcome your help (and anyone else's) Greer if you have the time. It would be nice to finally have this be helpful instead of sitting on my flash drive. ETA: I only need a few more LS books to have them all. Once I do get them, I was going to try and figure out where they go. I'd at least once enjoy reading everything BSC (aside from CD's and even though I have them all Friends Forever) in story and publication order. Then, I have come to learn that it means much more to me to read the stories depending on season or mood, or even sometimes need (like reading the subplot of the 7 Zorbs to be cheered up) than it does rigidly going through the books in order.

^A few years ago I crazily took the challenge of trying to figure out days and times for all of the BSC (non LS or CD) books. I never did get around to editing it for possible (somehow) linking to here or posting. What I came up with then is that this story took place possibly in January and February. It began on a Monday and ended a little over a month later on a Friday.33 total Days. I haven't read this one in forever (not a favorite super special of mine) so I don't know the answers to your other questions. I hope the little info I did share helps somehow. Yes, that does help, thank you. I don't know that the book takes place in February though because wasn't the play performed Jan. 24/25 or 25/26? I appreciate the reply, though.

Although I really liked this book, how did Jackie get to be Michael? I know it said he was really good at reading, but apparently spent most of the dance part of the audition tripping over himself. Does that mean Michael doesn't have to do any dancing? Sadly, I reread the story and one of Jackie's chapters even mentions dancing, so I'm still trying to get why they still decided to cast him. Although, I do think they could have done something more interesting with the storyline instead of the crocodile costume plot. The reason I like these books is for seeing unusual characters write from their POV, and in this book, not only was there Jackie having a few chapters, Sam and Cokie also had one or two, and that was interesting to see. On the other hand, they didn't do anything with Cokie that we hadn't seen before - she was still a bitchy diva. Sam had a good storyline with him and Stacey, though.

Maybe Mr. Cheney thought Jackie looked the part and that's why he cast him...?

I don't think the part of Michael would have any real physical descriptors outside of age. I think maybe Jackie was just a strong actor for his age, even if the dancing stuff was a little challenging. I think you'd end up doing more dancing as a lost boy or an Indian, anyway, if I'm remembering the play correctly.

Jackie definitely has a presence!

True. I was thinking that the only part that was open for school-age kids that Jackie could play was Michael, since being anything else involved dancing. As it was, he still got into situations.

They just had a Peter Pan live on nbc I think and it totally reminded me of this book.

Hello everyone! I'm new here. This is one of my favorite Super Specials! I don't think it's unrealistic that the BSC got so many parts because it's the Babysitters Club books. They had to have plots for the girls. Jessi was annoying, but funny. I think everyone has times when they act out of character, and maybe the writers just wanted Jessi to stand out because this was "her" Super Special.

Welcome, racergal12!
It would have been nice to see Jackie continue with acting and really shine in that department. In Logan Likes Mary Anne! , didn't they originally sit for just him because his brothers were taking lessons? If I'm remembering correctly, Jackie couldn't do the same because he was so accident prone. I also remember him losing out on taking care of his class pet in other book to a girl in his class, maybe for similar reasons. It would have been nice to see Jackie come into his own a little bit with something that he could be good at, in spite of his walking disaster status!

I doubt Kristy would have gotten the leading role if they'd done Grease, that's for sure. I can't really see her as Sandy. Stacey and Sam might have made a good Sandy and Danny. Kristi would've made a kickass Rizzo, though. I can just picture her rendition of "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee."

For some reason I didn't get annoyed by Kristy having trouble memorizing her lines, to me it added something to her personality, that even she has trouble with something. She explained that part of the reason was because Dawn kept altering her lines, which just threw her off, since most of Peter's dialog is with Wendy.

One thing that bothered me, why was Jackie costumed in a nightshirt? In every interpretation (silent film, Disney film, Broadway productions), Michael has always worn footed pajamas. Rather, it is John who is in the nightshirt, and that's who I kept thinking Jackie was playing, since his embarrassment about wearing -- and being seen in -- a nightshirt kept being brought up. I suppose we wouldn't have had that little subplot of his, but it made no sense.
