I think that it was horrible for the BSC to moan and groan about Jenny. She was certainly less bratty than children I've sat for. My mom's best friend's little boy is five years old now, and I've known him his whole life. Don't get me wrong, I love him to bits and he's usually really sweet, but when he was 3, 4 and I babysat for him, there were a few times when he was doing some really bratty things. They should be lucky their worst problem is that Jenny doesn't want to get dirty . And if you weren't always forcing your kid-kits down the kid's throat, maybe she would have chosen something that she actually wanted to do that wouldn't make her messy, such as *gasp* watch TV [I never, ever got what was so wrong with that. I was always soooo happy when the kids actually watched tv for a while, so I could SIT for a minute.]

^ Agree about not complaining about Jenny. I wouldn't have been into the kid kids either and actually would have thought it was fun to watch tv with a sitter (to show them my favorite show or something ;D) I think the groaning about her was just another example of them making a big deal out of some stereotype like "Kristy is so bossy" even in situations when she didn't seem that bad (to me at least ;D)

^I agree completely. I never thought Jenny was that bad, but I guess if you do one thing wrong, it'll be your defining trait forever. Jackie Rodowsky has a few accidents; instant 'clumsy, disastrous kid.' Yeah, he's a *kid*. They can't all be ballet-dancing, tap-dancing, singing masters and all around cute kids like the perfect Perkins. I remember Jenny was really cute in 'Dawn Schafer, Undercover Baby-sitter' when she offered her teddy bear or something to Dawn. I was always offended when I was younger that the "brat" of the BSC books had my name. I deliberately made a point of liking everything she did because of that, even when she *did* do bratty things.

^ Jenny was cute giving Monkey Matthew to Dawn. ;D (I think that's the one you're thinking of) In some books, she can be really sweet but in others, an absolute pain (just read Aloha) - like real kids. ;D As for stereotyping the kids, it bothers me sometimes but I think that everyone tends to stereotype and label without meaning to so I try to overlook it. ;D Sorry about the name sharing, inconsistentheart. That would probably bug me too. ;D

Rereading a BSC book (I think it was Kristy and the Mother's Day Surprise) I found that when they mentioned Jenny, the girls, especially Kristy, responded with ew! Wtf? Ew? About a 3 or 4 year old little child?

^I agree! Poor Jenny! She really was a sweet kid. Good old Mary Anne at least found some good in her.
I have also sat for brattier kids than Jenny, nothingtolose. One of the girls I sat for sat in the middle of the road and refused to move. This same girl threw dirt in a little boy's face, because he and her older sister were "play" fighting and she thought it was real. I have come to realize though, that all kids are brats sometimes. The way you handle them, is everything. If you are still nice to them and keep your patience, they will stop being so bratty.

I'd take Jenny over my own nephew any day, which tells you something about my nephew.

I never cared much for Jenny, but she was only four or five in the books -I think she would be okay when she's older.

I can actually see jenny turning out to be a good person, and Andrea is one of those people on my super sweet sixteen, throwing a million dollar party and then saying her life is ruined when her ice sculpture makes her look fat or something.

I thought she was a cute brat, and I loved her in Mary Anne vs. Logan when she was being a baby, and then when she finally met queen andrea
At least she was realistic kid in a lot of ways.

Jenny seems easier to sit for than any kid I've actually sat for. I don't know if Ann only ever baby-sat perfect little angels or what.

I felt a little bad for Jenny. I don't like how the BSC cringes about having to sit for her. I don't think she's as bad as they made her seem.
