^ I missed that one. I'm always shocked when Marnie talks. Has Ryan Dewitt ever talked? Even Squirt, who is supposedly younger (how old is he anyway), says a few words. What about Sari Papadakis? Does she ever say anything. I know Emily is supposedly behind (and maybe she is because she's actually a bit older) but she does say quite a bit more than a few of the others close to her age. We know Ryan DeWitt can at least say simple sentences. We heard him say "I'm firsty" once and the narrator commented on his speech impediment.

^ What book was that in? I totally don't remember it and will have to reread. Am very curious to learn more about the Dewitts. Saying "firsty" doesn't necessarily sound like an impediment at that age but then again, I'm not an "expert" like some of the BSC members probably are ;D

I forget which book it was...I think it was the one where they had the Christmas celebration at the nursing home.

Yeah, I was going to say, how is a toddler saying "firsty" a speech impediment? Sounds pretty normal to me... I don't remember Ryan talking at all, so I'll have to check out some books that feature the DeWitts... too bad that also means they'll be featuring the Barretts.

Speaking of talking, the way Emily talks is so cute. They always go on about her being language delayed but she seems to talk more than a lot of the others. In Claud and the Great Search, though, it said that Marnie Barrett was a "talker" and talked more than EM. Totally don't see that.... Sari Papadakis, either. Never heard her say much while EM always seems to be saying something. But maybe that's just because she is featured more. Still, she's cute ;D

I just read Dawn Saves the Planet and both Skylar and Marnie talk in that book. I forget exactly what they're saying, I think just repeating stuff their siblings are saying, but I was surprised as I don't remember Marnie saying anything other than "no" and Skylar saying anything other than "no tat"

Aw, don't forget they taught Skylar to say "cowabunga dude!" Or, as it came out, "towabumpa, dude!"

I think that was the Toilet Monster book, but I'm not sure? The Kormans didn't show up much.

Was the "I'm firsty" thing in "Here Come the Bridesmaids?" I can't remember, but I thought it was so cute.

Just noticed another instance of Ryan Dewitt speaking. In Abby’s Twin when they are getting ready to make snow sculptures, he says “make Stacey.” I thought htat was really cute but I was shocked to hear him talk.

Working in childcare (looking to change fields though) the toddlers did irritate me a bit especially in how they were babied. Most of them could barely talk. Emily Michelle I understood but I know plenty of 2s who speak in complete sentences. There were too many 2 year olds acting like 1 year olds or acting like far older children.
typical conversation between myself and one of my two year old students(will be three in august):
him: read me book? me: no I'm busy him: but you have to! me: not right now him: yes you do. i say you do. read me book now. me: read it yourself while I'm busy him: I can't I can't you have to. my mommy say you have to. me: your mommy would tell you the same thing if she was busy. him: my mommy not tell me the same thing! You have to read it. (he proceeds to throw a tantrum)
another 2. (will be three in november)
me: no spitting him: i want to spit me: in the sink not on the rug him: (screaming) no spit in sink. i don't wanna spit in the sink. me: then you will have to sit with a teacher until your mommy comes. him: no sit with teacher. I don't wanna. me: we can call your mommy right now and tell her you are not obeying. him: No don't call my mommy. I sorry. I sorry. I don't spit.
2 year old girl (was 2 in february)
her: tonka (her dog) bite me. he bites me. me: really? that must have hurt her: tonka eat my cat. me: oh that is sad to hear. can you put your blankie away please? her: why? me: it can't stay in the middle of the floor. her: why? me: put it away please her: but i want my blankie! i want it.
another 2 (was 2 in april)
her: my beep (sheep) baaa me: no that's a goat her: no no beep. my beep. me: no goat. this is a sheep. her: no no cow. moo moo. mine cow.
another 2 (2 in June)
her: read book please? me: sit down her: (opens book and points at pictures) what's this? me: banana her: nana. what this? me: apple her: bapple. what this? me: hamburger her: burger
1 year old (2 in october)
him: hug? me: put your toy away first him: (hugs anyway) love! me: put your toy away. him. no no. Want Mommy.
1 year old (2 in December) her: water? me: do you want a drink? her: yeah (nodding head)
1 year old (2 next may) her: up! wheee! (climbs up toddler slide) me: yay come down now. her: ok. whooaaa! (slides down, falls on her behind and giggles)

^ Those sounded really cute! My mom's friend's two-year old could speak semi-complete sentences too. So, I agree with you.
