I was rereading Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls, and when Claudia is explaining how weird Janine is, she mentions that Janine thinks it's interesting that people try to regulate the temperature of their environment rather than taking off or putting on clothing. I'm sure it went over my head when I was little, but that's actually a really good point! I bet Dawn would have loved it, too, since it sounds very 50 Simple Things Kids Can Do to Save the Earth.

We all seem to like Janine now, but did anybody like her when you were a kid? I know I didn't. I blame it on Claudia! She made Janine sound so dorky and mean (always correcting everybody's grammar), and I didn't like her at all.

I think that Claudia was just a big brat towards Janine. She made her sound so mean and unreasonable, but she really wasn't that bad. She was just smart and used proper English. What on earth is wrong with that? Of course, as a kid I thought Janine was "omg!mean!", but she really was just a smart person.

Yeah I didn't like Janine as a kid, either. She did seem like an annoying big sister, and I am also going to blame Claudia for this!

Maybe Janine did use her intellegence against Claudia just like Claudia used the 'I have friends, and you haven't', card against Janine.

Plus Janine was always good to teach a grammar lesson. Sometimes when I'm confused I can go back into my mind to something Janine said and be like, "Oh, right. Janine covered this in book 49..."

^Like "Continue on is redundant," in some early Dawn book or other!!! I hate when people say it now.

I always looked up the words she used -- posterity, redundant, circumstantial, quantitative...

Reading the books now, I'm always interested in what Janine says whenever she happens to pop up. I love reading about what she's studying.

I was re-reading #19 and I quote page 22....
I had just finished, when the genius came home. "Hello," she said somberly. I guess life is a trial when you're as smart as my sister Janine. All I worry about is baby-sitting and art projects. And maybe school. Janine has to worry about molecular theories and foreign politics and things like, Will the earth ever revolve so near the sun that it burns up?
I literally snorted when I read that. I can't believe that Claudia actually thinks that this is what Janine's biggest problems are. This just shows how little they understand each other. I'm sure that 15 year old Janine wasn't worrying about any of that crap, no matter how intelligent she is. She's a sophomore in high school. That's just asking for problems. I mean, you have your boys, your two faced friends, your enemies....I really would have liked to have seen a day in Janine's life. That's just an example of how

I've got more time for Janine than I did when I was younger.
She is a nice girl.
But I would hate to have a convo with someone constnatly correcting my grammer...And if someone sounded like a text book, I'd stop listening.
^^^I'm common as muck me, except when I have to be formal. And write essays.

Ugh, Claudia is bitchy and makes her sound so serious and lame! If I were Janine, when I got mad at Claudia I would totally be mean and play the smart card.
