I love Cokie Mason! Her chapter in Starring the Baby-Sitters Club is one of my favorites. She really comes across as the typical bitchy middle school girl. I like the comment she makes about Ellie, how Ellie wants to be part of their group, but hasn't been allowed in yet because of her acne. The comment is shallow and nasty, but true to what I remember about middle school.
Something I've always wondered about in Cokie's chapter is her comment about Ellie's spelling. Cokie's always portrayed by the BSC as a total moron, but here she cares about spelling. So, is she just being randomly bitchy about spelling? Or has the BSC inaccurately portrayed her intelligence? I suspect the BSC exaggerates Cokie's stupidity. From some of their remarks, it appears amazing that Cokie ever made it to middle school.
I don't understand where Cokie's obsession with Logan came from. In Mary Anne's Bad Luck Mystery, Grace Blume has the crush on Logan, and Cokie and Grace conspire to break-up Mary Anne and Logan for Grace. But Grace's crush is never mentioned after that book. Suddenly, Cokie's the one obsessed with Logan and later books make it sound like the bad luck mystery was Cokie attempting to steal Logan for herself.
What does everyone think of Cokie's picture in European Vacation? After all the years of imagining Cokie Mason, I was severely disappointed.

^ I was disappointed also. She just looked like a whiny girl with too much baby-fat still remaining. I always imagined her to look like a pint-sized diva.
As for the spelling thing, I think that she just likes to nitpick at people, even if it is a hypocritical judgment.

Yeah, I agree. She just likes any excuse to be a b*tch.
Ooh I have to see that!! I imagine a pint-sized diva as well, for some reason. But those Super Special illustrations were always terrible.

I would scan it, except my computer's broken, so I don't have access to a scanner now.
Cokie's picture looks a lot like I did in the sixth grade, which made the whole thing doubly disappointing.

I never thought Cokie was dumb, just lazy. She probably was a C student.

Cokie At least it was more of less accurate for the wet t-shirt contest line.

^Is that Cokie with the short hair? Who are the other girls in the picture? It almost looks like it could be Claudia, Mary Anne (post-haircut) and Mallory. The girl sitting down has some major thunder thighs going on..

ktag - thanks! But which one is Cokie? For some reason, I think the two girls standing are Kristy and Mary Anne and the girl sitting down is Cokie.

From left to right: Claudia, Mary Anne, Cokie. Claudia's kinda hard to tell at first, but Kristy's frolicking in Europe.

It looks like Claudia and Mary Anne are getting ready to kick Cokie's ass.

^ Aww. I actually felt sorry for Cokie in that picture. It looked as if MA and Claudia were bullying Cokie, and all Cokie wanted to do was be left alone with a tub of ice cream. Is that too much to ask? She looked totally defeated.
