Yeah, for some reason, I think that Cokie is kind of jealous of the BSC because they have more fun and do more interesting things than her group does.

I remember that, too. I don't know why they memorized the back of the book, too. Maybe it was just because they'd read it so much? I think one of them (Pete Black, maybe?) had a copy of the book with them...maybe to get it signed by the author or something? I don't think she was jealous of the BSC so much as she hated their superiority complexes when they were every bit as snobby and exclusive as she and her group were, but in different ways.

^ Yeah, I can see that. In Stacey's Movie, it hinted that Cokie might have thought that way in a roundabout way. She mentions that every clique thinks they are better than the other cliques, or something like that.

Yeah, I think she actually mentioned the BSC specifically. It makes a lot of sense, though, at least to me, because it's something that really began to bug me about the BSC.

I wonder why in the BSC #38,"Kristy and the Mystery Admirer",Kristy once said that she passed Cokie Gray while she was dancing, instead of Cokie Mason..hmmm...

^ I noticed that one too. Maybe Kristy was worried that Cokie would end up marrying Alan. ;D That is an interesting combination....

Cokie was a first rate b!tch allright. I hated here when I was younger but looking back it kinda seems like it was the BSC that were the bigger b!tches. I think Cokie was trying to give them some of their own medicine. I've always had the theory that the rest of SMS thought that the BSC were a bunch of dorks. It was just in their minds that they were "popular" . I can just see Kristy provoking eye rolls around every corner. They were such goodie goodies and know it alls. I love it in Mary Anne to the rescue when the first aide instructor talks about how balloons can choke kids and Kristy pipes up by saying," In the BSC we keep balloons up high and always throw away broken pieces." And Alan Gray says, "My Hero!"

^^Maybe but I don't think the BSC were deluded as such. I mean they did have quite a few mates outside the BSC (even though some where never seen again).

^ I totally agree. I tend to have a much more postive view of the BSC and think that the world can use a lot more "do gooders" like them. Who cares what people (who are just jealous - meaning Cokie) think of them. I don't think the BSC thought they were all that popular or that they weren't, either. I think that Cokie doesn't like them for the reason that a lot of people are hated - jealousy. That said, I do enjoy reading about Cokie. She's one of my favorite "love to hate" characters in the books. ;D

I dunno, I always though she was too much of a stock villain character, like she doesn't really exist beyond giving the bsc an "enemy". I like my antagonists to be interesting in their own right, or at least adding some real tension to the story. She's a total Draco Malfoy.

I completely agree with you, songheim. I never really cared too much for Cokie at all, because she was so one-dimensional. She seemed to be nasty for the sake of it, like the BSC had to have an enemy so that when they weren't fighting with each other, they had someone they could collectively war against.

I think I like her so much for that same reason you don't like her - I know I'm supposed to hate her because she's such an extreme, exaggerated "villian." ;D One of my favorite plots is when the girls get food poisioning from Cokie's party. I thought of this right away when I got the stomach flu last week. ;D
