Pamela's hat appealed to my 8yo self.

A lot of Pamela's clothes appealed to my eight-year-old self, but so did Claudia's, Stacey's, and Stephanie Green's from Sleepover Friends, so I didn't exactly have the best fashion sense back then.

^I really wanted to have a color scheme like Stephanie's black/white/red combination, but I couldn't commit to just a few colors.
Pamela reminds me of a rich girl I went to elementary school with. I didn't like her much but we weren't best enemies or anything. She used to wear a pair of blue jeans that had black leather panels down the front of her thighs. She wore them like once a week. I'm sure they were expensive, but they were so ugly. So that's how I picture Pamela's clothes. They might have been pricey or name brand, but they were ugly.

Ugh, those sound dreadful. On the other hand, you should mention those in comparison in the fashions thread.

Of course Pamela from Karen's point of view sounds snobby... but Karen from other POV's (Hannie, Nancy etc) sounds snobby as well.
"I have two family's... My Daddy lives in a mansion!" etc.

Karen's two families are just a fact, any way she put it.

Yeah, Karen did sound snobby from her point of view always reminding us that she is lucky to have two families, but needless to say it's interesting since I was an only child.

I never got the feeling of Karen's being snobby about the two families (about other things, yes, but not that). Frankly I think with the whole two-two thing she was really making the best of it.

Now I can see your point of view. Karen was very optimistic about everything including her two families. She might miss having just her mother and father under the same roof, but she's learning to love and embrace everyone else as she goes along.

Yes, she was, but Karen's way of making the best of things tended to be bragging, more often than not.

I agree about that. Karen was the typical seven year old. She kind of reminds me of me. If only I got away with half the stuff she did!

Pamela is so shallow so young I almost feel sorry for her. I wonder what she would have been like when she grew up.

I'm betting Pamela was just trying to mimic her older sister. Most 7 year olds aren't going to act like that without some sort of influence.

I think it has a lot to do with how they're raised. I would say that 90% of the girls my sister goes to school with are Pamela-esque.
