Definitely the Pikes and the Thomas-Brewers. To be honest, the Thomas-Brewer sitting jobs often bored me despite how much the sitters insist that Karen has such a "wild imagination" and that sitting for her is always an "adventure" However concerning the Pikes, I really like their sitting jobs in the early books... by the time it got to Lerangis, I wanted to go insane reading about the Pikes due to the Lerangis-style writing.

^I agree. I think the problem with the Pikes is that they do everything and eventually, it starts to repeat itself.

^ No kidding; how many talent shows, plays, and Pike Olympics do we need to read about?

Funny that the Ramsey siblings didn't get anywhere near as much attention, even allowing for the Pikes being there from book 1.

I like the Ramsey siblings. I like that Jessi loves her brother and sister so much and I like that she feels almost like a second mother to Squirt because of the large age gap between them.

^My dad sort of felt that way about his brother; my uncle's even more of a caboose than Squirt.

In the later books, the Kormans were used a lot. Actually the Kormans, Kuhns, and yeah Barrett-DeWitts replaced Jamie, The Perkins, Marshalls, even to some etxent the Pikes. As has been discussed many a time the later books focused less on sitting so maybe clients were randomly tossed in for a sitting tidbit?
ITA, about not liking Karen much. I felt awful for Andrew and worse for David Michael. Emily got annoying fast.

^ you know, up until recently (like a few weeks) i've always adored emily. i think she's sweet and some of you probably know that my little sister is adopted, so i have a soft spot for what emily has to go through. but lately i've been tired with how everyone falls all over her, the same way they do with karen. i guess that isn't a problem with emily so much as it's a problem with everyone who knows emily. but it makes me not want to read emily subplots.

I think for me the reason Emily got annoying was yeah that everyone fell all over her as you said Oldhickory, but that she never was developed into a true character of her own. She was always "Kristy's adopted sister from Vietnam, language delayed, who Nannie was mom to--I mean 'cared for.'" Outside of Claudia and the Great Search , didn't that pretty much sum up Emily? Oh yeah, she also liked messing around with TV remotes. If the characters had aged, even a little, Emily could have been very cool to learn more about.

Pikes! They are in every single book and it drives me crazy for some reason. Silly-billy-goo-yuck!

The Pikes I don't mind as much because I like them, but the T-B clan gets on my nerves, mostly because Kristy is probably my least favorite sitter and Karen is a huge thorn in my side. I do really like DM though.

It's a toss up between DM and Andrew as to who was more neglected and cast aside. Once Emily came and (sigh) Karen's books came. 90% was Karen, 10% Emily.

I thought Charlotte was overused during the mysteriets, I still cant buy Charlotte as a detective.
Also Karen Brewer ... ben/morbidda... urgh - it gets old fast. towards the end the kormans seemed to be in every other book.
