Yes, Karen's so-called wild imagination would exhaust me after about an hour. I'd do the unthinkable and tell her to just go chill and watch TV for a while!

^ I agree Candykane and we'd both probably get kicked out of the BSC for doing so. I also agree with you, Pyschoseal about Ben/Morbidda. I felt horrible for Mrs. Porter at Watson and Elizabeth's wedding when she came over with a present only to be met by Karen's screams. Enough already, Karen.

Exactly. Karen really should have been told off for the way she treated poor Mrs Porter. When I am rereading a BSC book if I get to a "tonight i babysat for my siblings" in Kristys handwriting i skip the chapter, Karen was just too annoying

^She really was, while poor David Michael was given "Mallory-like" treatment in terms of characterization or lack thereof! This is to say nothing of Andrew, who I truly felt awful for. Even in chapter 2 descriptions about Kristy and her family it was (most) always Karen and Andrew. Also where Andrew was given a few word (maybe sentence description, Karen's was always longer. The worst part was in at least one book, a Valentine one where Karen is mad at Ricky, I think another very early book, Kristy actually ignores Andrew for Karen. Wasn't that why Andrew made a peppermint stick ice cream mess once, trying to make desert for the three of them. That was not a positive Kristy moment because she yelled at him. In the latter, Karen is all sad and moody, Kristy practically ignores everyone else for Karen.

I haven't read any little sister books. Now I have all the BSC ones I might start collecting the little sister books. I found reading some of the later BSC books all the developments in Kristys life happened in Karens books (booboo dying, andrew leaving). Andrew was adorable in Kristys great Idea but was never developed beyond that, he just remained a quiet shy 4 year old. 2In Mary Annes sitting chapter in KGI Karen is mentioned 27 times to Andrews 14...

I was actually more shocked that, from how I read it, Mrs. Porter wasn't even invited to the wedding. I get that she wasn't all that close with Watson/Elizabeth, but seriously. If you're having a backyard wedding, you'd invite the people whose backyard touches yours.

fairly late on - Andrew was gone for a while and Karen stayed in Stoneybrook with Watson. Think they moved to Chicago.

I get tired of reading about the Pikes (especially the triplets), the Krushers, and anything about Haley Braddock .

Anything with the Krushers is soo boring to me, same with Jackie Rodowski. I also agree the Thomas-Brewers are way overused, especially since it seems like Kristy is ALWAYS the one babysitting them. Another one, imo, is Jamie Newton. In fact, he was who popped into my mind first thing when I read the thread title! Maybe it's because I find him annoying/boring, though.

The Krushers do get a bit old, I agree.

The Thomas-Brewers are boring because they're always doing the exact same things over and over again, freaking out about Ben Brewer or Morbidda Destiny or playing the same boring dress-up games. Also, it's almost always Kristy who's baby-sitting for them, and nothing against Kristy, but I just like more variety so I want to read sitting chapters with other club members, too. I read this one not too long ago and I actually liked this chapter a lot, for several reasons: - It's a Thomas-Brewer sitting chapter that isn't entirely about Ben Brewer, Morbidda Destiny, Let's All Come In, or Lovely Ladies.
- I like when BSC books and LS books published at the same time actually touch on the same events, and the LS book that month was about Karen's fight with Ricky (and then their "wedding").
- Gloomy!Karen is funny. She asks Kristy to read a book called The Dead Bird to her, and Kristy asks her if she can pick something more cheerful and Karen says no. She reminds me of Eeyore.

lol, I've always loved that. I didn't think it was a real book, but it is.

The Thomas-Brewer group, pure and simple. At first Karen was cute, but after all these books of her, Andrew and David Michael being there all the time, they become nothing but ANNOYING. The Pikes are better, because they're more interesting. I think the Rodowskys are overused (more specifically, Jackie since Archie and Shea don't come up as much) but I don't really mind that much. Something about Jackie is just so likeable.

Any of the big families, ala the Pikes, Thomas-Brewer bunch and the Dewitt-Barrett clan are definately the spotlight hoggers of the series.
