I was thinking about all the times Stacey's been nothing but a total snot to the girls or to other people and I thought it'd be interesting to make a list. Spread out through the series, she's okay, but when you think about it, she was a pretty big cow to those girls a lot!
*Leaving the club *Making fun of Mary Anne for her clothing/backpack *The filet mignon situation *Freaking out about Ashley Wyeth's clothing (though to be fair, even Mary Anne called her weird!) *Barely being able to bring herself to associate with the Mathletes.
What else?

Wasnt there something in Staceys secret friend? Book number 111 (?) Stacey trying to "help" Tess fit in? I really dont remember the plot of the book too much.

Yeah, Stacey had her moments, that's for sure. I find myself wondering why she's friends with the BSC when she seems like she'd be in the "popular" crowd. I know she was for a time, but I'm surprised she didn't stick with the group that she and Claudia sat with at the beginning of the series.

I agree, Stacey seems way too "cool" for the BSC most of the time. Sheep are in

Totally agree about Stacey. I absolutely despised her in Stacey Vs. The BSC. When I was younger, I never liked reading about her. Now I don't mind reading about her and somehow manage to overlook and accept her bratty attitude, even though I would hate someone like her in real life. Maybe it's because I can sympathize with her serious illness (though this doesn't excuse her behavior) or maybe because I'm managing to accept all of the bad aspects of the girls' personalities as just "part" of them and laughing at their behavior instead of taking it like it's real. Agree, though, about all of Stacey's snobby moments and found a lot more in her Portrait.

It seemed like she had more in common with the BSC do-gooders than she cared to admit. She and Mary Anne do seem to bond pretty well. (And her favorite movie of all time is Mary Poppins, hehe.)

^ I agree, I think a lot of times Stacey was torn between wanting to be "bad" so she could be one of the cool girls, and her true "do-gooder" feelings. Stacey's Ex-Best Friend was a good example of that. If she were REALLY super-bratty and too cool for the other girls, she wouldn't have gotten so angry when Laine called them babyish and stuff.
Anyway, she does have quite a few snobby/bratty moments, but I always thought they were more amusing than anything.

I sometimes wonder if Stacey tried to be snobby because she was "supposed to be" Laine's best friend and had to conform to be like her.

I sometimes wonder if Stacey tried to be snobby because she was "supposed to be" Laine's best friend and had to conform to be like her. That could be. It seemed like Stacey tried to please Laine a lot. I especially noticed it in Babysitters Remember.

I see what you guys are saying, but then why are some of her MOST bitchy moments after her and Laine aren't friends anymore? I can't blame Stacey's actions on anyone but Stacey.

I totally blame Stacey but think that she modeled herself after Laine. And I won't get into it again about my feelings towards Laine....

Stacey acts like a brat everyday. She should just realize that she isn't that cool and move on.

Stacey is constantly a brat. I don't know why they put up with her most of the time.

If Stacey had been sweet except when Laine was around, I would suspect it wasn't her own personality, but Laine's rubbing off on her, but she could be downright mean on her own! However, it definitely got worse when she was around girls with bad attitudes. She's like some girls I know - you can always tell who they've just been hanging out with by their behavior. They just get nastier when around people with Laine's sort of personality.

Really, I don't know why they let her live. In my Jr. High, a girl like Stacey would have been cut down immediately for her behavior. She's still one of my favorites though
