Could you imagine modern day Mallory? She'd be whining about how she wasn't allowed to get Lasik, much less a nose job!
And like....she wouldn't have a sparkly cell phone.

^ Me too. ;D The more I think about it, the more I'm glad they're not writing the books anymore because I preferred the world back then and I think that's why I enjoy reading the BSC so much. ;D

I think I understood the world but just didn't perceive it as being as bad because I was a less negative person because I hadn't fully experiernced the same amount of negative things and negative people. I do think kids today are worse than they were but that's another topic..... ;D

I like to think of the BSC in modern times for a laugh - I love the idea of Stacey flat ironing her hair everyday, and Mallory complaining about not having a sparkly cell phone. But I love the BSC in the late 80s/90s. I'm sure a modern day BSC would still be sugar-coated, but for some reason I can't see it having the same innocence today as it did back then. Maybe I'm being nostalgic, but that's just how I see it. When you guys talk about Mal's big glasses, I can't help but picture the UK cover of Mallory and the Dream Horse. Hilarious! ;D (In case you haven't seen it)

I think that honestly, Mallory's glasses were the style back in day...remember that girl on that T.V show "life goes on" that had those same big huge glasses in RED? That was what kids wore in the late 80's early 90's. I think Mallorys and karens glasses were probably actually stylish.
I do remember the whole ear piercing controversy though. I don't quite get it though...when I was a kid we allhad our ears pierced and no one's parents made like it was a big deal. In fact my mom basicaly BEGGED me to do it when I was 5!

^ I know some kids who are even older than that but I also know some who had theirs done as babies. I guess it's just personal preference. I don't think Mal's parents really objected to the piercing as much as she assumed they did, though. Was the book that talked about it Mallory and Trouble With Twins? I need to reread if it was. ;D

^ Thanks. I'll have to reread and see if I'm remembering right about the ear piercing.
