I still hate wearing glasses. They're a pain especially in situations where I need sunglasses. I'd have to either buy prescription sunglasses or wear those dorky clip on things. I choose neither option and stick with my contacts. I'd really like laser surgery some day but am scared they'll mess up and ruin my vision even more. Maybe you could get those glasses that have lenses that darken in sunlight. They act like sunglasses, I think. I don't know much about them, but I know people who have them and they seem to work pretty well as sunglasses. I love contacts. I was terrified that I'd poke my own eyes out when I was first learning to put them in, but now I think they're much better than glasses.

My friend has those glasses that darken in the sunlight. Every time she has her picture taken and the flash goes off, the glasses darken so she looks like she has on sunglasses in pictures. It's funny to me, but not to her.

I choose neither option and stick with my contacts. I'd really like laser surgery some day but am scared they'll mess up and ruin my vision even more. Sometimes I hate wearing glasses, too, so I wear contacts on occation. Contacts irritate and dry my eyes out, though. I'm also thinking of laser surgery but I'm scared to death that I'll go blind or have really horrible vision afterward (though my vision's pretty bad to being with). I'm not ok with those color changing glasses because most of the one's I've seen have really ugly frames. I just got really super cute new glasses! They're Guess frames that are a dark metallic blue with a cutout lace pattern on the side. They are the kind that only have the frame on top of the lens and the bottom of the lens is clear. Hope that description makes sense. I love my new glasses because they make me feel intelligent and intellectual instead of my old, thick black framed glasses that made me feel like a loser! I've been wearing glasses since the 5th grade, btw. I bet in Mal's day, though, glasses were quite ugly!!! Nowadays, glasses seem to be quite trendy. I have friends that bought nonprescription glasses to "look smart" lol.

I've considered having Lasik done, but the only time I really have to wear my contacts or glasses is when I'm driving. I can pretty much get by without them the rest of the time.

I was told my pupils were too big for Lasik. In high school, the nurse's office had it written on my file that I wasn't high, I just had really big pupils.

My sister had Lasik surgery last spring and she's so happy now. She was upset at first because her vision wasn't perfect right away, but within a few weeks it was 20/20. My mother wants me to have Lasik, too, but it's so expensive.

^ My friend has those glasses too. She says they're good in theory but not so much in practice - if she sits by a window during class and it's sunny out, her glasses will turn dark as she's trying to write notes or something. ;D
I honestly can't decide if I like Mallory. I liked her more when I was younger, I guess because I could relate to her. But now I find myself rolling my eyes a little at her dorkiness and immaturity. I mostly find her endearing, even when I don't particularly like her. For instance, she's annoying as heck in Mary Anne's Bad Luck Mystery, but I also find her extreme superstiousness and her boasting about the library card catalouge pretty cute in a dorky way. So I'm still on the fence with her.

I love my new glasses because they make me feel intelligent and intellectual They do sound cute! I want to get new frames, I've had the same pair for the last 4-5 years and I'm ready for a change. It's been mentioned before on this thread or another one, but Mallory going shopping for some cute new frames would have been a nice plot point in a book. That way she could feel more confident about wearing glasses while she's waiting for contacts. But the BSC pretty much gave the message that any kind of glasses wearing equals dorkiness.

The BSC did, but not LS. Karen's glasses were a point of pride, and Ricky's were just sort of there. Natalie's a bit dorky and would be with or without glasses, although I always had a soft sport for Natalie!

^Well, that's pretty realistic. When I was in elementary school, I desperately wanted glasses and was excited to have vision crappy enough that they were necessary, but by the time I was a teenager, I was sick of them and thought they made me look hideous and nerdy.

Something about her was just so endearing, even when she was being so bossy to the other kids. (I can't remember which book that's in.)

I thought that sometimes Natalie was so much prettier than Karen and that Karen may have been jealous. Just look at her in pics from Karen's Doll Hospital and Karen's Tea Party, much prettier!

I can relate to Mallory. She is still my favorite of the sitters. We are both klutzy bookworms that wear glasses. Unlike her, I like wearing glasses

But glasses are more fashionable now... back when mal would have been wearing them, they were pretty hideous!
