I think that the books were made to cater to fans, hence Jessi and Mal not having many books. I don't think they were as popular as the others.

Why on earth did Stacey narrarate the most? Most Girls Like reading about Stacey's Life, In my opinion she is the Only sitter who Almost all the time had a good/interesting story line. Example : worst books in my opinion of each sitter : Kristy- Kristy Thomas Dog trainer Mary Anne- Mary Anne and The Search For Tigger Claudia-Claudia Queen of seventh Grade Dawn-The Ghost at Dawn's House Abby-Abby the Bad Sport Mallory- Mallory Pike # 1 Fan Jessi-Jessi's Gold Medal Stacey-? You see, Stacey's Worst Book is kinda Hard For me to pick, she got the best story lines in my opinion.

I completely agree with you on Abby the Bad Sport; I never liked that book much either. However, for some strange reason, I actually liked Claudia, Queen of the Seventh Grade. To each her own, I guess.

I like Queen too, and absolutely love Ghost! Agreed about Dog Trainer...it seemed like the ghostwriter really wanted to speed through that one. I remember buying it when it came out and thinking "Why is this book so thin?"

The Ghost at Dawn's House is my all time favorite BSC book EVER!

More evidence Ann hates Mallory:
In Jessi and the Bad Babysitter, while most of the BSC is concerned over Mallory feeling sick and being tired, Kristy and Jessi dump on her for it. When Mallory first calls in sick early in the book, Kristy immediately freaks out because they're down two sitters (this was right after Dawn left on one of her many trips to CA) and says it's a total disaster. Later, she then essentially blames Mallory for the fact that they're getting so swamped with work and when Claudia and Mary Anne say they hope it isn't something serious, Kristy says it's probably the flu and if they all get sick, they'll have to shut down the club for good. So, again, everything is Mallory's fault.
As for Jessi, she gets frustrated with Mallory when they're sitting together, treating Mallory like she's lazy and useless and keeps suspecting that she's faking everything. I think if Mallory were faking, it wouldn't be so prolonged, like it was in this book. Then later, when she and temporary BSC member Wendy are sitting at the Barretts, she says Wendy was the opposite of Mallory because she helped out a lot and was a great babysitter. Ouch!

I read this recently, and its true, kristy and Jessi do seem to dump on Mal.

In a way I was happy for Mal to go off to Riverbend and have some new friends her age that appreciated her. She seemed to get dumped on way too much by the older girls, going back to when she first joined the club.

One of my favorite Mallory books is Mallory and the Mystery Diary. I was just thinking of how many of her books revolve around her getting dumped on or something bad happening to her - the BSC gives Mal a hard time about joining the club! Mal's dad loses his job and everyone makes fun of her! Mal sits for the Arnolds and they are horrid brats! And on...and on. Then I realized that Mystery Diary is one book where nothing bad really happens to her! Maybe that's why I like it! I haven't read a lot of the later Mallory books, so I can't comment on those. Poor Mal, she's like the resident punching bag or whipping post or whatever.

Here's another example of Ann hating Mal: Mal was the only regular member unable to go to Hawaii, since Kristy went to Hawaii later.

Was Aloha #14 and European Vacation #15? Didn't Mal's parents say the trip to Hawaii would be too expensive for them? How were they able to send her to Europe then? That stinks that Mal couldn't go to Hawaii and had to deal with an obnoxious playground parent instead...

I like the subplot of Mal and that awful woman because, for once, Mal comes out on top! Yay Mal!

Aloha was # 13 while BSC In The USA was # 14 and European Vacation was # 15. Maybe Mallory was able to go to Europe because her family in Europe paid for it.

Ann liked Mal as a charge, I think. In the earliest books the club members are always saying she'll be a good babysitter later on.

I don't think it's been mentioned in this thread but when Mallory went to boarding school, her roommate, Alexis, was horrible to her. She invaded Mallory's privacy, took her things without her permission and destroyed the care package that was given to her by her friends.
