Which Grandparent is your favorite? I just realized that Stacey is really the only one without a grandparent or a grandparent figure in her life. Is one ever mentioned? I wish there would have been a bit more interaction with some of the lesser featured grandparents - like Jessi's. I enjoyed books like Music Box Secret that showed the girls having close relationships with their grandparents.

Mimi. She's the only one I really remember.

^ I liked Mimi pretty well, too, before her stroke. After her stroke, it made me really sad to read about her. Uncle Joe upsets me, too. Grandma Vera seems kind of cold and a bit standoffish (not sure why I get this impression of her) but I like her in BSC in the USA. I don't care for Nannie - maybe because she reminds me of my own grandma's least favorable traits with the guilt trip in Mr. Mom and her favoring Emily (that's what it seems like at least since Emily is practically "hers"). I do like her much more in the LS books. I really like Granny and Pop Pop and what I saw of Jessi's grandparents. Gran Elsie seems pretty good, too. I voted for Grandpa Morris, though, because he reminded me a lot of my own Grandpa with whom I was really close, especially how Abby in Wonderland said that he and Abby were a lot alike. That's how it was with my grandpa, my mom and I - we were alike while my grandma is more like my aunts and little cousins. I also really like Karen's Granny and Granddad Engle in the LS books, especially Granddad. I've only been able to read Karen's Granddad once and was crying when he died (didn't help that my own dad was having open heart surgery that day and he died of a heart attack ;D)

Who couldn't love Mimi? I also liked Grandma Verna, but never really cared for Nannie too much for some reason. ;D

^ Agree that Uncle Joe can be funny. It just makes me sad to read about any person who loses abilities, mental or physical. I think that's my problem with Mimi too because I like her much, much more pre-stroke (I know this probably sounds mean but....)

aww, I'm sorry! Karen's granddad is a really sad book. I've only read it once too.
In the poll, I voted for Mimi. I liked how close she was to the BSC.

Seems like Mimi is by far the winner. That makes it even sadder that they killed her off so early. I'm not sure why I never liked Mimi very much - not that I disliked her but I just don't really like her (if that makes sense) But I wish she wouldn't have died or even suffered so many losses from her stroke. I would have liked to see a full recovery in Mean Janine ;D

If they hadn't written Mimi's character out of the series so early, they would have turned her into something none of us would like as much, I think. It probably would be to the point where we make fun of Mimi's "stroke-speak" as much as we do Hunter and Abby's "allergy-speak." Showing Mimi first as a whole person and then as one who cannot do nearly as much as she used to and finally having her slip away added a depth to her character and Claudia's also.

Who is this Morris guy? I don't really have much of an opinion on their grandparents. And Elsie? Who's that? Are these Karen's grandparents?

Grandpa Morris and Gran Elsie are Abby's grandparents. They are not featured much but are pretty main characters in Abby in Wonderland. That is the book I really like them in. Karen's real grandparents aren't really mentioned except her mom's mom "Grandma Packett" is briefly mentioned in the first LS book. Seth's parents are featured a lot more - Granny and Grandad from Nebraska - in the LS books. I should have included them, too, because I really like them both - Grandad especially. Both he and Grandpa Morris reminded me of my own grandpa. Now I'm missing him and need to go read a good "grandpa" book ;D

^ Mary Anne's grandma (Mom's mom) from Iowa who she visits in MA's Book and Secret in the Attic and who comes to visit MA at the Mall of America in SS #14 (I like her in that one because she stands up to Jack when he is making snide remarks about Richard ;D)
