I say "Laine" like "lane" because... well... I've always said it that way. It also reminds me of preppy characters from 80s movies, like the guy in Pretty In Pink.

I used to think "laney", but now I go more with "Lane". I blame Gilmore Girls.

For years I thought it was "Laney," until someone pointed out to me the error of my ways. I actually used to pronounce Claire "Clarey" for some reason...

I think I knew it was "Lane" but pronounced it "Laney" because it sounded more feminine to me.

I pronounce it "Lane" because my aunt is "Lain-ey" and spelled Lainee. The extra e adds the "ey" sound for me (but I think that version sounds more feminine, too, and actually like it better. "Lane" fits the character more for some reason. ;D)

I always pronounced it like "lane" because I have a sister named Lainie and the two just never sounded the same.

^Right, I figured Lain-ee would be spelled like Lainie or Lainey. Laine just looks short for Elaine. I wonder if that's Laine's full name? I never thought it might be. I always thought Laine was a cool name in its own right.

^ I've always wondered if Laine is her full name, too. I never heard her called anything else.
