I never imagined having feelings on the LS books since I had not planned on reading them. That (thankfully) has changed and I have read them all (wish there were some new ones left) and almost own them all, just need a handful. I have to say that sometimes the LS books can mean more to me to read than a full BSC book. The stories are a shorter, often lighter read but that can be a good thing. I have come to enjoy reading them by season or even mood or need and that adds a personal connection, I think it can be easier to do that with an LS book than a BSC sometimes. Also a lot of the LS books particularly the wintry or December holiday ones, can have a more homey feel, show more family scenes, and that can make the tales better to me, too. Of course, the BSC will always be my very favorite series, I'm just saying I definitely enjoy LS, too.

I still really enjoy the Little Sister series because I have always enjoyed Karen's books moreso than the regular series.

Why thank you, I'm glad they included it too, with the spider ring added for laughs!
I believe it, I got into LS before BSC too. Tried to get into BSC first and couldn't, but LS warmed me up in 91/92 when I got the Secret Diary book from Scholastic after which I started checking out LS books in the school library before starting my collection, then in late 92 I started reading more BSC and the rest is history.

I too read the Little Sister books before the BSC. However, I had only a few LS books, which I reread multiple times, compared to reading dozens of BSC books.

Yeah I used to read LS over and over, BSC though I'd read a lot, I'd do it with books narrated by certain club members more than others. I liked re-reading the mysteries, including the ones before that series started, the ones with art and music, portrait collections and a lot of claudia and stacey ones with some mallory, dawn and mary anne thrown in though I liked some jessi ones too. I barely re-read kristy ones except for the first book in the series.
For karen, I liked the ones celebrating holidays, mentioning food and pets best.

Originally, I could care less about the Little Sister series. I thought Karen was pretty bratty in the regular series so I thought why would I want to read a book series about a brat? Well, not longer after I joined the boards, I was tempted to read the LS books. I did have a few LS books from when I was younger (but I outgrew them pretty quickly) so I dug them out and read them. I thought the LS books were cute and funny. Plus, Karen wasn't portrayed as much of a brat as in the regular series. She was just a normal seven year old girl with an overactive imagination and perhaps a manipulative side. I only own a handful of LS books, however. But I am definitely planning on collecting the entire series.

I need to read and collect the LS books! I bet I can find them off eBay and at the used bookstore in my area (you can buy five to ten books in good shape for only a quarter!). At first I wasn't too interested in reading about a 7 year old's life. But I'm tempted by this fandom and Karen's adventures seems fun and I'm just awfully curious about it. I only read and own Karen's Roller Skates, Karen's Little Sister, Karen's Sleepover, Karen's Ghost, Karen's New Friend, Karen's Grandad, Karen's Campout, and Karen's Baby.

^ I highly suggest magic garden if you get a chance to read it. The cover is pretty and there's a decent solid story.

I too have read the Little Sister books years before reading the BSC books. In enjoyed reading about the parties, vacations, family time. IMO, I feel that Karen is more rounded character in her own book series than in the BSC. While Karen is still obsessed with witches and ghosts, she appears to have more interests.

She does have more interests, but that wore thin for me by the halfway point of the series. Every book was a brand new interest so it became a bit ADD reading about her. I actually purposely read the Little Sister series out of order the first time through. It didn't bother me at all. That would normally always bother me, so that's how I knew the books were just all over the place.
