This is from the Ashley thread, referring to Stacey's distaste for bell-bottoms: Does anyone else love how these books are now so old that the fashions described in them have gone out of style and are now returning? I wouldn't think of wearing leggings now, but I see them everywhere! (It's too bad I can't say the same for skinny jeans. I know tapered pants supposedly look like ass on everyone, but I really want a pair )

I alllllmost bought some leggings a month or so ago. Actually I did buy them, brought them home and put them on and then realized I looked retarded and returned them. I know I'll thank myself in a few months when they're out of style and people are smacking themselves for wearing them. There is nothing sexy about leggings under a skirt, guys wanna see your legs ladies!!!
Skinny jeans? Well... I kinda want some too. Hahaha. The ones I've seen are different from the early 90s baggy tapered leg jeans that looked good on no one. I'll probably stay away from those too though, for the best I think.
I used to work at an Old Navy store last year and a woman walked in and asked me if we sold tapered jeans. I think I gave her a look and plainly said no we didn't (they didn't then, they might now). Anyways she must've went to someone else in the store and asked them because I heard someone over my headset ask if we had tapered women's jeans. One of my bosses responds, "No we dont have tapered jeans tell that woman that this is not 1992". I couldn't stop laughing for a good 10 minutes.

I have both leggings and skinny jeans. Flared jeans look weird to me. Some things, however, were never in style, such as pretty much everything Claudia wore, like her VCR barrette. I mean, Huh???

Stacey's wearing a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt on the cover of one of the books, isn't she? I believe that's on the front of New York, New York, where all the girls are wearing some sort of NYC clothing.

I love this thread so much. !!! One of my favourite fashion moments ever is Mallory and the Arnold twins shopping trip in "Mallory and the Trouble with Twins". The most awesome scene ever.
In the FF series, their fashions actually get updated, which I thought was kind of cool.
I really liked the new clothes that Mary Anne bought in "Mary Anne's Makeover", as well. Oh, good times.

Oh yeah, that was great! Didn't Mallory buy blue push-down socks or something? Dibble.
I loved the description of Carolyn's clothes - the "cool jeans" and the sparkly moon and star sweatshirt. I thought that was SO AWESOME as a kid. Hee, Mallory was probably so jealous!
Inconsistency - in Welcome to the BSC Abby, both Arnold twins have "bowl" hair cuts apparently. What happened to Carolyn's mullet?

Mullet or bowl cut--which is worse. Ms. Fashion-conscious Arnold Twin?

I loved the $135 mohair sweater that Marilyn tried on. That sounded so pretty.
Mal and Carolyn both bought the push down socks! Oh, I remember those... They were the height of fashion.

^ Particularly when you wear three different-colored pairs at a time. Your legs look like ice cream cones. DIBBLE!

^Cable knitting is when the stitches are sort of shifted around for part of the pattern, so you end up with rows of what look like...braided cables, I guess? (not sure how to describe them) going up and down your sweater, as opposed to the knitting just lying totally flat. Do you know what I'm talking about?

I thought it would be something fancier. Mary Anne couldv'e jsut gotten Nannie to knit her one and save Richard all those $$.

As soon as I saw it, I thought it looked like something my grandmother would've made me when I was a kid.
