Jessi and the Superbrat...always found it very boring and unrealistic..OF COURSE lil' Stoneybrook has its very own TV star! Whatever. Jessi's Wish...like an after-school special...blah Stacey's Big Crush...pointless Maid Mary Anne....BORING.

Haha, I think Maid Mary Anne is pretty good. I like seeing MA being all about quilting and drinking tea with Mrs. Towne. She's so old lady-ish in her interests, and I like it. (Because I like knitting and having tea too )

Stacey's Big Crush is one big cringe-fest and kind of out of character for sophisticated Stacey. It would have been more realistic if it were about, oh, Mallory, for example.

I can't even finish Stacey's Big Crush, it's too cringe-worthy. I guess that means I was never as sophisticated as I thought I was, and I was more of a Mallory. That sucks. I don't think Claudia and the Middle School Mystery was pretty useless. The mystery was lame, it was solved, the subplot sucked, and it didn't matter because she still has to go back to 7th grade, even though she studies all the time and makes improvements. What. Ever.

See, that's exactly how I feel about it. I felt like Stacey was too sophisticated to get caught up in a crush over an older, unattainable guy, especially since that had already happened to her in Sea City with Scott. I never thought about what the book would be like if it were about someone else, but like you, I can see Mallory doing something like this more than I can see Stacey doing it!

The Fire At Mary Anne's House: So unnecessary Stacey vs the BSC": I hated seeing the bsc fighting Stacey and the Bad girls- Stacey was just not Stacey

Jessi and the Jewel Thieves: The only "good" thing I can say about this one is that Ellen Miles redeemed her "BSC member looking out the window and witnessing something unusual" in Abby and the Notorious Neighbor. Otherwise, a complete waste of paper. ITA with others that it sure does seem like a lot of plot ideas got recycled many a time--something I also never really thought about before these boards. Kristy Thomas, Dog Trainer: So very morose and weird at the same time. It felt like AMM and the ghostwriters were truly trying to fulfill some self-created list of characters they felt important to have in Stoneybrook. The other thing was Watson seemed pretty intent on not getting another dog anytime soon, yet for a year he agrees to one? How does he and Elizabeth for that matter, not except Andrew, at the youngest, well besides EM, not to get attached and want to keep the pooch? At the very least this one should have ended with the Thomas-Brewer family adopting a puppy from a shelter/humane society not to replace Scout--I'm not going to comment on my opinion on Scout at all--but to give their apparent dog-love and appreciation to a dog who needs it most. Fire at MA's: simply a horrible way to end a series. To me, since I loathe FF, that book really was the end of the BSC. It was like after 130 other books and reading about these characters while they spent 13 years in 8th grade only for there not only to be any closure but for, pun intended, for the whole thing to sort of go up in flames? Awful. Aw, I wish Mimi had not died. It would have been so very sweet to have read about her supporting Claudia and possibly encouraging Claudia to create the relationship she often complains about not having with her family. Also, I would have loved to have seen MA spend time with Mimi in general but especially during "Secret in the Attic."

The bad girl Stacey stuff was totally worth it. There needed to be an injection of rebelliousness! I actually don't really mind Jewel Thieves. At least they weren't getting the police involved. You could argue that it's useless, but then, if it was gone, Jessi would have no mysteries at all Mimi gets sick very early in the series, so maybe Ann and the writers knew early on they weren't planning on keeping her around...sad. I would have loved for her to have remained.

The house burning down makes it weird to read the rest of the books because MA and Dawn's house/the barn are so prevalant. But I love FF and I love the new barn-house they get.

I could see Stacey acting like that because she always was pretty full of herself so it was pretty believeable that she would think that an older guy really liked her and pursue him. Mallory had low self esteem and was pretty shy. I can't see her pursuing even a regular classmate, let alone a teacher.
