I love artichoke hearts!!! I especially like cooking with frozen ones because they're easier to prepare than fresh and taste better than the jarred ones

I just read a gross food description from Dawn and the Disappearing Dogs - so far there haven't been any good ones to balance it out in that one, either. The lasagna MA and Richard eat does sound okay but even the blueberry-strawberry pie Sharon makes (maybe that's the reason - I remember reading she's a bad cook, which makes me think of my step-grandma's disgusting pies made with lard) doesn't sound to tasty to me right now (I'm not a big pie fan, though). Anyway, Jordan eats peanut butter with ketchup instead of pb with jelly on a sandwich. Gross!

^ew I hate the disgusting, random combinations the Pike kids come up with :/ They always sound pretty vile. That pie sounds good to me though!

^ Of course those Pikes are the ones with that strange Daddy stew/hot dog creation.

I think this thread would probably be useful to consult if you need an idea for a snack!

^LOL. I mentioned this in the thread for the actual book, but Il'l say it here too, there is TONS of food mentions in Dawn on the Coast. I don't really recall any off the top of my head... didn't pay much attention to them as most of the meals were fish, ugh. I do remember at the W<3KC meeting, they have pineapple chunks, zucchini bread and carrot cake. I'd the pineapple but carrot cake grosses me out (hate the texture of the carrots in it) and I've never had zucchini bread...

My aunt used to make zucchini bread and I loved it but haven't had any in about 15 years so I can't remember what it tastes like. Now I'll have to ask her to make me some again

Zuccini bread is yummy. Just reading the books makes me hungry. Especially when they are at meetings, and they eat M&Ms.

Actually, the meeting snacks sound almost gross to me considering where and how they are stored (I'm not a big candy, chip, and junk food fan anymore anyway - especially of m&ms since a bad experience with some extremely stale ones at Grandma's They always seem like they would probably be old and stale (according to Claudia "chocolate doesn't spoil" - I know from experience it just gets stale!). The latest junk food description at a meeting that I read was of oreos - which sound good any other time - from a shoebox buried in the closet. Hope the shoes weren't in the box All I could think was oreos tasting like stinky feet - yuck! Claudia seems like such a pig, which really ruins the descriptions of the food she serves.

haha, I'm with you aln, I don't think the "food" they eat at their meetings sounds very appetizing. I'm not big on candy, either. But you guys have been talking a lot about guacamole lately, and I have to admit that I've never actually had guacamole! My boyfriend makes it from scratch a lot, but I've yet to actually gather the courage to try it.
