I kind of liked what Peaches got at Pizza Express: "large combo deluxe pizza pie, with a side of bread sticks and marinara sauce, a soda for me, and a huge chocolate milkshake for herself."
And the dinner they prepared sounded pretty good too: "stuffed mushrooms; country pate; and angel hair pasta with fresh cilantro, loaded with pine nuts and fresh garlic, topped with freshly grated Romano cheese." I don't even know what most of those things are.

Random, but I'm pretty sure I learned how to make english muffin pizzas from the BSC, specifically Mallory.

I can't remember it very well but I remember loving the food Mary Anne and her dad got in Mary Anne's Makeover. The food at Sea City seemed great too. I won't say anything more but Stacey vs. the BSC turned me off macaroni and cheese for awhile.

Oh the chocolate fudge making in Stacey's Emergency caused a HUGE craving for me!

^ For me it was because of the messiness of it all.

Mr. Pike made omelettes for everyone in Boy Crazy Stacey, but Stacey couldn't eat hers because of the cheese. How could she eat pizza and stuff like that in later books? They seemed to simplify Stacey's diet restrictions to no sweets.

^ yeah, it's like in some books she was able to eat chips, but others, she was stuck with fruit and plain crackers.

And in Mary Anne Saves The Day, Mr. Spier makes Stacey a plain hamburger while the others eat pizza. Her diet definitely becomes less strict in later books. Perhaps the change reflects a change in the recommended diet for juevenile diabetics. Or maybe a new doctor was consulted. Different doctors, different opinions.
But why didn't Mr. Pike simply make Stacey an omelette without cheese? I used to be on a special diet where I wasn't allowed cheese. When my mother made eggs, or I ate breakfast at a restaurant, I simply requested mine without cheese.

Do the kids in the BSC books ever eat macaroni & cheese, spagetti os or grilled cheese or soup? When I was a kid, these were the foods my friends, cousins, and I lived on. For some reason, I loved the scene in one of the books about Byron and the Daddy Stew. The whole idea of Daddy Stew makes me laugh but some of the other Pike meals sound really gross. I was really annoyed recently while reading MA and the Playground Fight when Dawn reminded Kristy that she didn't want pepperoni or sausage on her pizza and they had to order one half without it just for her. Hello, Dawn - pick it off if you don't want it. Maybe the meat tainted the cheese by touching it.

I know strict vegetarians who really do think that the meat taints the cheese by touching it, since when it's cooked, some of the fat comes out of the meat and obviously can't be picked off. But they're vegetarians for religious reasons.
I think Kristy mentions making grilled cheese sandwiches for the Marshall girls in Kristy and Mr. Mom. Word to living on Spaghetti-Os, though -- I was a kid I was obsessed with canned pasta, especially those dinosaur-shaped things in the individual microwaveable containers!

The Pike triplets like to eat Spaghetti Os out of the can. I'm sure mac&cheese and grilled cheese have been mentioned as well.

I'm shocked Dawn wasn't vegan. I guess it's easier for kids to understand what a vegetarian is than a vegan.
When the club started sitting for the Delaneys they had Oreos and cokes for an afterschool snack. That'd probably make them bounce off the walls, but it sounded so good.

Well, I would be really skeeved out at the idea of picking a bunch of sausage off my pizza and then eating it. All the meat 'juices' would still be on there, as well as the lingering taste. Yuck. (Although, since Dawn's only an actual vegetarian about half the time, you'd think she could have dealt with picking it off!) I just read Mary Anne's Makeover and there are some really good food descriptions in there. At the mall her and her dad eat burritos, enchiladas, and other Mexican food, and at home they order a ton of Chinese food. Of course, there's also a mention of Dawn "boiling tofu." Boiling? Couldn't she have been stir-frying it or something?
