^ I used to throw popcorn at people in the theatre when I was about eleven, and recently I read Mystery #34: Mary Anne and the Haunted Bookstore and the Pike triplets are throwing popcorn at people when they see Star Wars, so that amused me.
Except Mrs. Pike was there. Dude, how stupid is that? I didn't throw popcorn at people in the movies if my mother was there.

^Kind of like in New York, New York! when Claudia drops her M&Ms everywhere and one lands on the lady's shoe! ETA: Wait, I reread your post and it isn't really like that at all. Oops

On the other subject, I'm a vegetarian myself and I would not eat something after I took the meat of. Eww. (sorry) I actually agree as I'm not a vegetarian but have been known to cause an issue when with family about not wanting to pick stuff off a pizza or something like that. I guess in my original post I was just snarking on Dawn because she bugged me in this book and it is annoying how she always seems to make a big deal about her special diet - more of a big deal even than Stacey and Abby who have a very good reason (not that Dawn's "principles" that seem to change with every ghost writer and were not well defined to begin with aren't reason enough .

ITA regarding Dawn's diet. At first she just didn't eat red meat (for health reasons) and then it progressed to ultra-strict vegetarian who gagged when thinking about "animal carcasses". In Dawn on the Coast, when she was given the non-vegetarian meal on the plane, she ate it, claiming not to be a strict vegetarian. And in SS#5, she ordered chicken.

And in mystery 7 she is lecturing us about being a vegetarian for health reasons, definetely not because she cares or anything. At least, that's how she makes it sound. Dawn has the weirdest diet. Also, the things she enjoys to eat - eww. I'm a vegetarian and I know two other people who are, but we all wouldn't go crazy for tofu pie or something. Way to stereotype... again.

#82 Jessi and the Troublemaker. Kristy suggests they drink some hot chocolate later and Haley says "or hot jello". Which appearently is just drinking hot water and jello mix. Am I the only one revolted?

Hot jello sounds not only revolting but also painful. Wouldn't that burn going down? Jello is made with boiling water, isn't it? I guess you could let it cool a bit first but still... Yuck! Suggestions like this are one of the reasons that Hayley annoys the heck out of me sometimes. She always seems to come up with stuff like this.

Madame Leveaux is terribly annoying as well.

hot jello. wtf. wow.
I was thinking about the babysitters opinions towards coffee...I haven't read these in awhile, but in Winter Vacation and BSC in the USA I think MA and Dawn are revolted by the thought of drinking it. MA gets offered some by the cook in the lodge and says it will stunt her growth and Dawn almost drinks Richard's coffee and is all "EWWW!" But in Christmas Chiller Claud and Stacey go to a coffee shop/bar/place and also offer some to Ethan when he comes over in the blizzard. I guess it was sophisticated to drink it by this time or maybe it's only sophisticated when they're in NY.

Stacey also mentions that she gets sugarfree hot chocolate or something like that and that neither she nor Ethan actually drink coffee (funny, to me Ethan always seemed the coffee type), but "coffee shop" is "New Yorkese" for "diner."

We used to drink hot jello at summer camp. I liked it but it made one girl throw up.

Has anyone mentioned Fluffernut sandwiches? Claudia ate one in SS #6, and I'm pretty sure they made other appearances in earlier books. All I can say is... WHAT THE HECK IS IT???
