It's really weird when to realize that the world that kids inhabit now is entirely different than even the one I grew up in.

Newspapers, especially being read by kids. How many kids ever pick one up now?

I'm always trying to encourage people to write more letters.

My handwriting is/can be awful, I admit. Computers are wonderful for eliminating long term hand writing. Email is very handy and I do love how "instant" a reply can be. However, there's nothing like receiving a "real" letter or card in the "real" mail. I guess, like MA, I, too, enjoy getting the mail.

Maybe we all should set up some pen-pal writing!

^Me, too. I'd be happy to help organize a card/letter exchange, too if anyone wants.

Woolworth's. In #20 the kids get the letters for the Krushers shirts at Woolworth's, which hasn't been around in years. I vaguely recall one near us when I was a kid but it's been forever.

Don't know if this has already been mentioned, but Jessi's use of the word "integrated" to describe her old neighborhood in New Jersey. That sounds like something one would have said in the 60's just after the civil rights movement. Maybe the use of that word persisted into the 1980's; I really have no idea. But now we're more likely to hear "diverse."

in stacey's problem, they eat at a restaurant in the world trade center. but then all of a sudden stacey is digging through her bag for her cell phone, which makes it seem way too modern.

Mr. Zibreski's friend ordering the "diet plate" of a hamburger patty and cottage cheese in Claudia and the Clue in the Photograph. That seemed really outdated to me. Or maybe this is still something found on diner menus? I'm not sure.
