Mr. Zibreski's friend ordering the "diet plate" of a hamburger patty and cottage cheese in Claudia and the Clue in the Photograph. That seemed really outdated to me. Or maybe this is still something found on diner menus? I'm not sure. Carls Jr has something like that here.

A coffee shop/Family Restaurant here has a "Fitness" Portion of their menu.

I just noticed that even in the Friends Forever books from 2000 that the family cars are always station wagons. Upgrade to an SUV people, you can afford the gas prices.

Actually, I often have to walk out on the tarmac. Perhaps it's more common in Europe than here, but I've done it many times for international flights. Well, technically they send a bus, but it's still on the tarmac and you walk on the steps to the plane. Maybe they rarely do it in America for liability reasons. Our family does that every time we visit our grandma in India! Mind you, this is a small town; I doubt Mumbai, Delhi, Cal and the like would allow it.

I don't think I've had to do in Moscow since they built the new terminal, but I always have to do it in St. Petersburg, which is a city of 5-6 million people!

I've only had to do it once, at a very small airport while boarding a very small plane.

I think I've had to do that a few times too, so I guess it's not that uncommon. The parts where all the friends and family go with you to the gate sure do seem outdated though!

There's a picture in my album somewhere, from the spring of 2001, taken as I'm getting off the jetway in the airport. That will seem as odd to my children as dial phones.

Im getting confused here.... I guess I don't really understand, because I'm not aware of any airport that doesn't have jetways to connect the plane to the airport unless they use stairs instead, so I don't understand why a picture of you in one would be surprising for your kids.

^Perhaps she just means it's surprising that someone was even there to take her picture (as it implies a non-passenger was allowed freely into the terminal)? Some conversations just get lost in translation in type.

I was at Charles de Gaulle in Paris two days ago, and we had to disembark using steps instead of a jetway, so it's definitely not a small airport thing! I can see major airports in the US not using them, though, for insurance reasons--if someone falls, lawsuit.
