My other unpopular opinion: I wish there were more boys mentioned as clients. I don’t think there’s many of them compared to the girls.

I’m a girl, but I have noticed the lack of boys being sat for. I think it’s a little unfair that for a series about making things equal between the two genders there’s not a lot mentioned on the guys end.

The way I see it is that for too many decades, the boys were usually the heroes.
Even in so-called girls' series and books, boys ended up dominating the series and boys ended up as the interesting, quirky characters while the girls were often conventional and often dull.
Often the boys would end up rescuing the girls or solving whatever issue was at hand, even when a girl was supposed to be a central character.
The Fabulous Five series fell into this trap numerous times and often the Sweet Valley series did also.
I am glad the BSC series steered clear of those traps.
It is refreshing to see just girls getting together without needing boys to make their lives interesting or complete.
I wonder if this is why you cannot imagine any of the BSC fishing or owning a non-conventional pet like a bat?
I know several women who fish and who have taught their daughters to fish.
Girls gathering without boys is not any slight on boys.
Who knows...perhaps Stoneybrook is mostly girls.
Perhaps since Ann grew up around mostly girls, she reflects that in her books.
You know that Ann went to an all-women university, don't you?

She went to Smith. I’m saying clients in general, not boyfriends or teachers or whatever. The bsc mentions Jackie and Jamie the most outside of their siblings. I’d like to see more of the kids being used then outside of “they made a mess” type of story. Hence why I like Shea.

It would have actually been neat to see a spin-off series about all the clients and their stories.

Karen's one of those who absorbed her twin in the womb. It made her more aggressive. 😄
It would be nice to see twins who weren't besties. If Dawn did have a twin, boy or girl, and they chose to live on opposite coasts with each parent.

If Dawn did have a twin, boy or girl, and they chose to live on opposite coasts with each parent. That would be a good plotline. Yes, twins are not joined at the hip. That could be totally plausible of Jeff being Dawn's twin, but living on the west coast while Dawn stays east.

Not the BSC itself but the general universe. But even though I can totally see Karen as a brat (I enjoy saving lines that prove this point lmao) and I feel like if I was her age I wouldn't of liked her very much based on the little sister books but I remember reading her books and being...lowkey jealous of her so I have a weird soft spot for her.
For one I was jealous of her confidence (I was a very shy anxious kid) but also I was jealous that she seemed to get everything/do so much stuff and she basically never got in trouble lol. I also remember being super jealous in Karen's plane ride because I thought it was so cool that not only could she go on a trip by herself (even just on the plane by herself) but I also thought it was so cool that she wasn't even nervous because I probably would of been crying. I also used to think she was so smart

Another opinion that might be unpopular...in some of the descriptions about Shannon, it felt sort of Mary-Sue-ish...curly blond hair and an academic superstar involved in a million activities from a well-to-do family.
I would have maybe had Shannon as part of a stepfamily and maybe give her and her family jet-black hair like most of the rest of the BSC and not had her in fifty million activities.
Then she would have been more relatable to more readers.

I dunno if this is an unpopular opinion, but I really like the 1990 series! Kristy is so Kristy and Mary Anne is how I mostly picture her, and Stacey actually permed her hair. I still don’t like the movie lol

I dunno if this is an unpopular opinion, but I really like the 1990 series! Some of it was good. That I agree with...the actress there had the almost-perfect Kristy appearance, personality and mannerisms. Mary Anne is how I mostly picture her. Jessica Paré with brown contacts would have made a much better Mary Anne in this series. When I saw her in the episode Mary Anne and the Brunettes, to me, she looked so much more like Mary Anne than Meghan Lahey did. I always thought it was funny that they named the clique the Brunettes since Mary Anne and most of the BSC are themselves brown-eyed brunettes Stacey actually permed her hair. True there, except Stacey's hair wasn't as bushy or frizzy. Still, Jessica Parnell was pretty good at capturing Stacey's sweet personality and her almost-sister bond with Charlotte. The little actress who portrayed Charlotte was perfect for the role and how I pictured Charlotte at eight years old. I still don't like the movie, LOL. How come? Just curious. I like the theme song of the 1995 film way better than the 1990 telly series theme song, which to me sounded more like a song for first-graders than for middle-schoolers.

Again, not sure if this is unpopular, but I found Dawn tiresome and was actually glad when she went back to CA... Oh...and I never liked Mallory...found her equally tiresome for different reasons... Dawn was one of my favorites but I thought Mallory was pretty annoying. Although the "If I were thirteen instead of eleven, life would be a picnic" was funny.

Every few books, she was moving again. I never thought Dawn was so bad as a whole, but I just hated the "coast-hopping." I also hate how probably the most used word to describe Dawn is 'individual'. She literally just dresses how every other blonde in California does, probably (I wouldn't know, I'm not from CA)

My opinions about each member: Kristy: She’s alright I guess, I kinda thought the softball parts were boring. Mary Anne: She's okay too, I don't know if this is unpopular or not, but I hate her haircut. Claudia: She’s my favorite. Except she can be a little annoying. Stacey: She's okay. Dawn: I loved and hated Dawn at the same time. Mallory: Really annoying. Jessi: I find it weird how she always get the lead roles, but she's okay. Abby: She's cool I guess. Logan: He's okay. Shannon: She was being a brat in Kristy and the Snobs but otherwise she's okay.
