Logan = not abusive... I don't really get this idea at all - he's thirteen in the books; let the guy grow up! He's just going through that macho stage some guys go through - Abby and Kristy: I've never seen them as lesbians... they're just sporty girls ... I also don't see them getting close, I think Kristy needed someone like MA to give her balance, Abby - while I like her a lot - is not exactly what you would call level-headed and quiet Did you read my mind? I was so surprised when a lot of fandom sees him as abusive. He's only 13! About Abby and Kristy- I always saw them that if they are indeed lesbians, and are close, then the next step would be a relationship? My bestie is going through something similar with a guy we know- they are just so close that a relationship is easy to form.

Oh! I think Mrs. Thomas/Brewer fails as a mom, and Mr. Winslow isn't in the running to be dad of the year either.

I think that Claudia is really slutty. She almost seems desperate at times. She reminds me of those girls on Bend It Like Beckham who were sitting on a bench and talking about how gorgeous so and so guy was and so forth. I remember Claudia shouting out of a door of a car about how gorgeous a guy was and she practically had an orgasm when Logan said one of the guys on the track team (I think) thought that she was good-looking. She just seems to have the sex drive of a guy.
Oh, and I totally agree about the Logan not being abusive thing. He's at an age where he couldn't possibly have had enough experience in relationships to really know how to go about having one in a more ideal way. I think that this is just him making a lot of mistakes on his way to being good at them. I dunno.

I don't really see Claudia's behavior as slutty; I thought it was more about insecurity and loneliness. Claudia seems really insecure to me so I interpreted her eagerness as her feeling acceptance.

For instance, maybe the reason why the other girls are so accepting of her, say, clothes is because if they didn't show support for it she would feel insecure about maybe being herself?

My unpopular opinion...I never minded the allergy-speak. But I think that's because I grew up having extreme allergies, and I thought it was pretty representative of what I would sound like.

Okay here are my unpopular opinions
For some reason, I love the Mallory Pike #1 Fan book though I think she was so silly for getting mad and her play was dumb. Dumbest plot ever, yet so entertaining. I remember liking Mallory books and feeling my nose was big, and reading all the time, but that doesn't mean I was like her. I saw a bit of myself in all the members as a kid.
Everyone hates Stacey in Stacey's Lie, but I really didn't hate her at all, I liked her even more even if she was sneaking around.
Wes could not pull off what he pulled off today but I like the way Stacey wrote about her crush feelings a lot, which made the book enjoyable
I have finally grown to like Laine Cummings though I thought she was snotty for years and felt bad for Stacey and the club.

Yeah it definitely was a genuine friendship, they just grew apart and tried to make things work, but ended up miserable in the end, on both ends. The move played a huge part in it.

God forbid a female enjoy sex as much as a male does. Not to be rude but what does this even mean? That it's only acceptable for a woman to have sex if she doesn't want it? Because that's pretty much the definition of rape.
And here is my extremely unpopular opinion:
I don't think the "Jessi's black" meme is funny. When she's treated poorly, she wonders if it's because she's black...because when she first came to Stoneybrook, she was treated poorly for being black! When I was reading the BSC books for the first time, I lived in an extremely diverse town, but when I first went to college I was one of very few South Asians on campus, and it's jarring and scary and pretty much sucks.
Her response to Mallory's interactions with her family in BSC in the USA was an overreaction but I find the raw sentiment behind it pretty understandable. I hate when people say it, but I am kind of whitewashed and someone getting along with me doesn't guarantee that they will be okay with a less Americanized person. If I were introducing someone non-Indian to my more "ethnic" relatives, I probably would be watching their interactions carefully at first.

Yeah, Jessi's black is really old and unfunny. Some people just won't give up on it, though. *shrugs*

lilafowler, I'm south asian too, cool! I think "jessi's black" and the way it's worded differently each time in chapter 2 gets so old too, but I laugh hard when people on this board make fun of the whole thing

I don't think the ZOMG! JESSI'S BLACK! thing is funny at all. I realize that it's more mocking the writer's excessive need to highlight Jessi's race than the fact that Jessi is black, but it still grates on my nerves. I had a similar experience in college; I was like, where are all the Mexicans at?!?
